  • The "self-destruction mission" continues in its full speed in Florida; specially when one hopes on Fr. Rostand for the rescue.

  •  "In 2010, at the news of a priory being established in Florida, I, and most of you I am sure, believed that the support, care and attention we would receive would improve dramatically. Just the opposite has occurred. .

    That is very true!

  • A very dear friend is moving to Orlando, FL. with part of her family.  They are active SSPX.  I'm not sure what the chapel is called, but it must be near Orlando.  Can you give us an update on that particular chapel.  Is it closing down too?  We'd like to pass on any news to this friend.  She is scheduled to move at the beginning of October.

  •
Apparently, money has been chosen over souls?
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

The Chapel is called St. Thomas More, but unlike its patron saint, they have not refused to sign the oath of supremacy to the king....  The king of Menzingen that is.  The chapel is located in Sanford-FL, which is about 30-40min north from Orlando.

There are QUITE a few ex-parishioners here on Cathinfo (as well as parishioners) that have denounced the many scandalous betrayals and persecutions flowing from this priory. I'll find and post some links here when I get a chance.

A priest has even left the SSPX all together while stationed there. But the list won't stop there...

I feel sorry for your friend, Hollingsworth. However, on the bright side, we have regular resistance Masses in Sanford as well and they are most certainly welcome to attend if they so wish..

  • At least we know Davie (The oldest SSPX Chapel in Florida) still have people with backbone who won't be destitute.

  • I shudder to think what plans they have for Fr. Bolduc's church in De Pere, WI, if they are closing a 32 year old Mass center... that is entirely PAID for!

Father would seriously be angry about something like this.
    Matthew 5:37

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

My Avatar is Fr. Hector Bolduc. He was a faithful parish priest in De Pere, WI,

  • Sorry, I can't agree with this one.

It seems like the person is trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. People in authority have to make administrative decisions, and those decision are never going to please everyone. These people will as such still have the Mass and sacraments made available to them (something we should thank God for each day). I think this situation will easily happen even if Bp. Williamson or any resistance priest were equally in charge. The opening of the priory in Florida itself has been a great blessing for Trad Catholics. I think some Trad Cats only seem to see the negative aspect in things.

I do understand that as Trad Cats we don't like change, but we do have to distinguish between change and change. I think we need at times to be more objective.

  • Well, lets not put the cart before the horse...The neo-SSPX WOULD be getting more support if not for the recent machinations of Menzingen..

  • The Society is notorious for grabbing assets and hanging on to them. It joins the long line of of institutions that leech off the labour and wealth of man. The spiritual bankruptcy of Menzingen will turn its attention to further material aggrandisement as it actively positions itself in the modern world. The provision of old forms of worship and ceremonies does not turn a church into a model of doctrinal and moral rectitude. They can be reproduced for a fee, becoming merely mercantile events.

I'm sure it's a complicated situation. It's similar to what holds back growth in our local SSPX chapel. There's no way to please everyone if anything changes, so they go with no change at all which has stifled any growth.

The good news is that Davie, FL had a resistance Mass yesterday, so if there are enough people who want to see the TLM stay in Davie, they have something to support.

  • A chapel must be able to pay its bills, including the costs of bringing in a priest for Mass.  The question is whether the chapel is able to pay its bills but the SSPX is unwilling to send a priest there because it does not receive additional funds or if the chapel isn't able to meet the costs of bringing in a priest on a regular basis.  I don't think this question has been answered.

However, all I can say is that, were it not for the massive expense of building a new seminary from the ground up in Virginia--an expense many of the faithful have questioned the need for, such questions might not have even been asked.
