Need help people!

Can anyone familiar with the Pre 1955 rite of Palm Sunday give me a rundown so that we can properly give the music?

Father Pfeiffer is coming up here on Saturday, and we're doing it the old way, and I need to make sure we're doing it properly.

Here's what I have so far. Please fill in blanks if you can.

There's supposed to be Asperges in here, but I don't know where it goes

4) Procession (According to the rubrics, you cannot do blessing of palms without the procession!) with Gloria Laus

(Half the choir is supposed to be inside the church at this point, doors closed... as seen in this video)




5) The priest knocks on the door with the crucifix and the doors are then opened and then the Ingrediente is sung (please correct me if I'm wrong)

6) Reverence is made to the altar, and then he reads a prayer which ends the procession, while the ingrediente is being sung.

7) Priest prays collect.

9) Responsory Domine, ne longe facias is sung. (Again, correct me if I'm wrong.) Priest reads it while being sung.

(We'll be doing the simple intonation for the tract/graduals, but I wanted to link them in the gregorian way because they're ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS AND I WISH I COULD DO THEM THAT WAY!)

Branches for blessing palms are on the MAIN ALTAR, not on a table...

In the pre-Pius XII edition of the Missal of Saint Pius V, the blessing of the Palms takes place within a rite which parallels the rite of Mass. The branches to be blessed are placed on the main altar. At the beginning, an Introit is sung, followed by a Collect (there is no Kyrie), an Epistle, a Gradual, and a Gospel. After the Gospel, there is another prayer, which, although it is sung out loud, corresponds to the Secret of the Mass. The conclusion of this prayer leads into the Preface Dialogue and a Preface, at the end of which is sung the Sanctus. There follows a sort of ‘canon’ for the blessing of the branches, consisting of five prayers. After sprinkling the branches and incensing them, (following the normal order of such blessings: imposition of incense, sprinkling, and incensation) the priest sings a sixth prayer, and distributes the branches to the attending clergy, and to the people, while the choir sings the two antiphons Pueri Hebraeorum. When the branches have been distributed, the priest sings another prayer, which corresponds, both in position and in thought, to the Postcommunion of the Mass. There follows the Procession; ideally, the Palms are blessed in a different church or chapel from that were the Mass is celebrated, and the Procession goes from one church to another.

Ahhhh NOW I'm starting to get it. This is like a pre mass to the mass!

LOT, part of the answer here:

#7-12 are part of the blessing of palms, & occur before the procession. It is like a mini-mass, but the priest remains at the epistle side of the altar. After the Ingrediente (#5) is sung the Mass begins w/ prayers at the foot of the altar (as in Passiontide).

This priest is enroute/traveling and says he'll respond more in depth when he arrives.  Sorry for the delay - adding to your stress to do things just right for Father Pfeiffer.
