MORE BLENDING IN WITH THE NOVUS ORDO

Cosmas,
On the surface, there's nothing wrong with using the name of a long-dead Bishop of the area.  HOWEVER, looking at it from a conspiratorial perspective (which is prudent, considering the circuмstances), I see this as a psychological change, meant to 'connect' St Mary's with the diocese, of which the old Bishop was part of.  It's meant to make St Mary's 'normal', as can be, and to break down the barriers in thinking of 'trads' vs 'conciliar'.  It may seem insignificant, but it's not.

Christ told us to separate ourselves from the world, so far as we can.  Trads need to do the same in regards to the new church.  It's not bad to be an 'isolationist' catholic; in this day and age, it's necessary to keep one's faith...especially for school kids who are naturally trustful.  They need to be warned of 'wolves in sheep's clothing', not taught that they have some connection to the diocese.

I'm a little confused about the bindi dot. I thought it has pagan symbolism or worship involved in it. I don't see how wearing it would be a provocation, especially knowing that some of those Asian countries participate actively in more than one religion.

In contrast, would we think it were strange if the mohamedan converts continued to carry the Koran or wear burkas?

There is a cultural element here, ok, I get it, but that doesn't mean it is acceptable Christian conduct.

To JPM,
Excuse me its Archbishop Lefebvre, and as a matter of fact for new people coming to town a sign telling them Saint Mary's Academy and College run by the Society of Pius X would be most helpful. You sound like a troll.

My point was sidetracked, I know Bishop Miege's history with Saint Mary's etc. What i'm tring to get across is the fact that the Academy has taken away the identifying marks ,which was a big wooden sign out on Highway 24 in front of the Academy. It specifically said ,Saint Mary's Academy and College run by the Society of Pius X. Now they have new signs at two locations with nothing about the Society. You drive into Saint Marys and you have a public high school called Saint Marys, you have a Novus Ordo church on main street. Hows anybody going to know where Saint Marys Academy is ? They had a great sign before letting every passing person know by just looking at the sign. Once again why not call it Archbishop Lefebre Field. Yes Matthew I know Bishop Miege lived 150 yrs ago before there was a counciliar church. My feeling is why not promote the founder of the Society.

You think Catholics driving by Highway 24 won't know which St. Mary's they are attending because it doesn't say so on a sign? 'Oh, it appears we ended up at the wrong St. Mary's. Those damn signs.' Really? As if the distinction hasn't been known for decades? That really bothers you?

Or is your concern that they should've named a field to honor someone whose name you can't spell correctly? In spite of my best attempt, I am failing to see your point.

And this is evidence of "Blending with the Novus Ordo"? Only to a sectarian.

You're being disingenuous.

You... "the wise St. Mary's oldtimer"  know full well there's been a long rift between the SSPX traditional Catholics and consiliar Catholics in town.

The two are separate, but now you shrug your shoulders, as if you don't remember?
