  • As usual, an entertaining and informative summary from Fr. Chazel. Just a couple of clarifications to add. This Brisbane sedevacantist allies himself with the Fr. Chazel faction against Pfeiferism, which we see as dangerously cultish. In spite of the fact that Fr. Chazel's (in) famous anti - sedevacantist Brisbane conferences were the trigger for us to adopt the dogmatic position of no longer attending Una cuм masses. We are dogmatic on this position only to ourselves , and extend the charity of 'opinionism' towards our friends remaining with the R. & R. Position and specifically with the Brisbane Resistence group. We remain strongly opposed to the cult of Pfeifferism and encourage the Brisbane Resistence to resist its attempts at encroachment. We, unlike the pfeifferites, maintain a generally respectful attitude towards bishop Williamson, despite an obvious disagreement on particular issues. My family in fact were confirmed in the catholic faith by him whilst all parties were still within the Society, during his visit to the local sspx chapel.

Another point of clarification. We are not recruits of the CMRI. We are probably closer to the Fr. Chekada position on many matters. However the only available legimate Non Una cuм priest available to us is allied with the CMRI. He is a very good priest and we are so blessed to be able to attend the Masses and the Sacraments provided by him. His local chapel group are also a lovely group with none of the cultish tendencies that had become apparent within the local sspx chapel, and unfortunately, the local Resistence group(s) as well. In conclusion, we are grateful that we now have bishops available from both the CMRI Seminary as well as those associated with the Fr. Chekada chapels and Seminary.

Dear Frs. Chazel and Picot, I look forward to catching up with you again over a beer, or two, at our mutual friend's place the next time you visit Brisbane .

  • It seems that Frs Chazal, Picot, Valan,Suneel,McDonald,Salenave and Ballini are now members of a society  called Marian Corps. The "SSPX" bit has been dropped.

This is perhaps the right thing to do if the aim is the continuation of Tradition and the maintenance of the TLM. This should be the aim of all the Traditional priestly groups. My reading of the situation in India, is that there is a rivalry/hatred between key faithful on both the SSPX and the Resistance sides, completely disproportionate to the actual numbers involved. I myself have got involved in this sort of fratricidal thing, which, in the past as far as I am concerned, was condoned by certain priests. Canvassing of the "other faithful", stories of plots and espionage and suchlike nonsense, all founded on insanity and the wretched caste system. We have been Catholics here for nearly 500 years but were Hindus before that for thousands, and the caste system is obviously in our genes.

I once asked the late Dr Cyril Andrade, the senior most Trad of India, why, among so many seemingly pious Catholics of India there was virtually no opposition to Vatican II. He answered that we had not got over our paganism.

"Marian Corps" may be the ideal name suited to a whole group of people fighting for the Church ( Just like Action Francaise, for example). but whether it is a right sounding name for a priestly group offering lay folk the Mass and sacraments, I'm not so sure. I wonder what other readers think?.

The ideal situation is that the old guard lay leaders of the two opposing sides in India  be removed. And if there is no one to replace them, then the priests must get more involved in the day to day running. I'm speaking about the Indian priests of both the SSPX and the MC, all of whom I know and whom I am fond of.
