    Matthew,

The Feast of Corpus Christi was celebrated in St. Marys with a Solemn High Mass and Procession on the actual Feastday, the last Thursday in May.  Because it was celebrated on the actual Feastday, it could not be translated to Sunday then. (Celebrating it on Sunday is traditionally only permitted if it is a grave inconvenience to celebrate it on the Thursday, but it wasn't, so we didn't.)

The decision here on Sunday, June 2, was whether to celebrate the X Sunday after Pentecost, or the Dedication of the Cathedral in our diocese.   Traditionally, the later is a First Class Feastday which "trumps" the regular Sunday Mass when they fall on the same day, so that is simply what the priests in St. Marys followed...the traditional way of doing things.

Please correct the error posted on your site, since I have no login there.

    Thank you,
    L.

St. Mary's decides to dump the feast of Corpus Christi in order to show unity with the local modernist Bishop.  Yet they're not looking for unity???  HHhhhmmmm???

Last week, according to the calendar for the 1962 Missal was the Second Sunday after Pentecost. There is an option, according to the same calendar, for parishes to use the Mass of Corpus Christi on Sunday – in the event that a large number of the faithful were unable to attend the Mass on Thursday itself (though the Mass of Corpus Christi is still always celebrated on that Thursday). So, which Mass was offered in Saint Mary’s on July 2? The answer: Neither. Why? Because it is the Anniversary of the Dedication of the Cathedral of St. Peter, the diocesan cathedral of the archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas, in which St. Mary’s resides. Thus, we had the Mass for the Anniversary of the Dedication of a Cathedral. This is a tangible proof of our unity with the local ordinary, a tangible proof that we are not separatists, or schismatics, or, as Dr. Mirus so tastelessly puts it, members of a sect.

  • The paragraph immediately following was even more enlightening:

"Now, what of the sermon on this Sunday? A younger priest offered the Mass I attended – the High Mass at 9am. During the homily he preached on the fact that the local ordinary is our necessary connection with the Holy Father, the Vicar of Christ. And that while the Holy Father is the highest authority in the Church, Bishop Naumann is our father in this diocese, and we must pray and sacrifice for him. And no one was shocked. There was no gasping or pulling of hair. It wasn’t something new to any of the parishioners."

I make Bishop Fellay's comments my own:

“Little by little one gives up the fight and ends by accepting the situation. Everything in Campos still looks traditional, no doubt, so that the people see nothing different. The shrewder ones among them, however, note the tendency of the priests to speak more often and respectfully about news from Rome, omitting their past warnings and ignoring the present day deviations. To become accustomed to this situation and to cease to correct it is a great danger.”
(Letter to Friends and Benefactors #63)

  • Things of this nature are popping up everywhere.

"In Miami the SSPX faithful have been encouraged both verbally and with a formal invitation to go to the local nordo mass and attend some consecration to the Sacred Heart the local bishop is performing. The invitation read May 30th 2013.

Pretty sure some of the sspx priests from Florida must have been there. Can't imagine they would encourage the faithful to go and then not go themselves."

  • Why the "unbelievable"?. You assume the SSPX is resisting. An eye opener for me was Fr Sherry and Fr Gallagher doing nothing about Indult material at their chapel.

  • Compromise is expected in the surrendered SSPX. I assume they will change policy in attending the "Indult" Mass.

  • The neo-SSPX besmirches the name of the great Papa Sarto by continuing to link his very name with the modernism of "Rome." Really, could anything be more ironic?
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

  • Do stop the cleric if he ever tries to intone Sancte Pie Decime in the chapel or mentions Archbishop Lefebvre in the same sentence.

  • “…though obvious no different to FSSP…”

Au contraire! Check the online weekly bulletin of the Fraternity of St Peter parish in nearby Maple Hill Ks (St John Vianney) and you will see they observed…The External Solemnity of Corpus Christi!

Neo-SSPX – more Roman (modernist Rome!) than the FSSP!

We're just surprised how fast the liberal cancer is spreading.
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

    It is surprising.

But you know, sometimes cancer does spread really fast.

That's why it's so important to catch it early.

Now, what was going on two or three years ago when the first signs
came up?  Do you recall when anyone said something critical of how
+Fellay was getting a bit edgy, they were immediately hushed and
asked to be more respectful?  How many times have you heard from
the pulpit that respect for your superiors and 'obedience' is important?

And all the while, GREC was (sort of) quietly going on, and then the
Dutch re-branding firm was engaged -- quietly, of course.  This was
the cancer in its earliest stages, and we let it grow.

Then when +W was sent packing to Argentina to be under the watchful
eye of the Jєωess president, the stage was set for a most important
interview, so that the Jєωess could hurl him out on his ear, basically.

All the while he spent his next few years in the attic in Wimbledon,
and the cancer was metastasizing, where were we?

Now, it is systemic.  The whole body is consumed.  A cure is not
impossible, but it would have to be miraculous.

And +Fellay would have to GO, along with his minions, sort of like the
vision of the Third Secret --- in Menzingen, a city "half in ruins."

Not sure which Mass you are referring to. We were at the 6 a.m. Mass and Father Beck seemed to be giving his monthly sermon to all the Masses. He spoke about modesty.

The quotes come from Angelus, not Ekim, so assuredly it happened as reported.
