  • Let's  hope these two letters begin to release a docuмent flow.  Sorry for the poor upload quality.  I'm not real good at it.  Maybe Matthew can apply some tech skills and enlarge the lettering.

  • Notice he specifically said 'older students' which implies the younger ones were not involved and which is contrary to reports.  Still smells like a coverup and a minimization of the problem.

  • They ought to just close the school down.

Saints have written that when the vice of impurity takes hold in a school it is impossible to eradicate it.

It should have been closed down years ago.  But then, I'm one of those who would close down the sspx altogether.  I think it has turned into a phony, cult-like organization anyway.

    Agreed on both accounts.

Plus, how many times already in the past 25 years have they brought in a priest who is supposed to have expertise in the area of education to straighten the place out?

What expertise do the two new priests bring to the table:

Fr. Charles Deister, new principal.  Who is he? Dare we even think that he might be an American?

Fr. Joseph Dreher, new prior. Who is he?  An American, or a denizen of one of those EU countries?

Can we reasonably assume that they're just the latest in a string of Fellay-appointed lackeys?

From the website of Immaculate Conception Post Falls:

Fr. Charles Deister is a native of Kansas City, Missouri and a graduate of La Salette. Ordained in 2014, he takes care of the Corpus Christi Chapel in Edmunds, WA. He teaches Latin in our boys school. He is the Chaplain for the St John of God Group.

    ................................

As Ladislaus says - Fr Dreher is an American. He was actually a vocation from an SSPX affiliated parish from Monsignor Charles Donahue. Ordained 21 years ago and trained under Bishop Williamson. He was headmaster of the SSPX school in the UK.
    Please pray for my soul.

I don't know.  I"m just saying what Fr. Wegner's letter said - Fr. Dreher comes with experience.

Who was the priest they had there a few years back for a couple of years that was supposed to straighten the school out?  I can't remember his name.  I seem to remember an accent.  He would have been there when you were still going there I think.

Not the new prior, but the Associate Prior/Assistant Pastor.

Also, I believe he is originally from Colorado.

  • Whatever the "grave problems regarding sɛҳuąƖ purity" are, Fr. Vassal's resignation letter offers a cautionary tale for every traditional catholic school (SSPX or not) and the parents who consider sending their children there.

Every school has to have a strong personality at the head, who takes no s***, and when s*** happens takes action.  Expulsions. Firings. Immediately. Yesterday. I wouldn't even consider a school that doesn't have that dynamic.

On another thread it was speculated that Fr. Deister will be the new principal but that he shouldn't be because he has no experience running a school.

That may be true, but he came from an excellent school with a very strong leader and he does have experience with kicking some ass. That's probably the most important qualification at the moment.

The problem is that his "school days" in grade school were all too recent!

The man was ordained in 2014. Not exactly the experienced priest the situation (a difficult, challenging parish in crisis) needs.

I agree, but then when there is a strong personality at the helm who does take decisive and immediate action, all hell breaks loose.

There's been a problem at ICC from almost the beginning.  They have two camps of traditionals there:

    1.  The first camp of traditionals understand that being a traditional Catholic isn't only a tendency towards incense and Latin.  They understand that being a traditional catholic encompasses every area of their life.

    2.  The second camp of traditionals have almost two feet in the world and pay a nod to their nostalgic sensibilities on Sunday morning.

I don't consider youth a detriment. Experience, I agree, is important.  Based upon his upbringing, his schooling, his mentors, and his personality he has many years of the type of experience as a leader that many priests thirty years his senior don't have.  I would love to have him lead my children's school.

The split you describe exists at EVERY trad chapel, both inside and outside of the SSPX. It is fundamental to the Traditional Movement.

There are those who "get it", and those who are just there because of the aesthetics, custom, family pressure, convenience, etc.

Yes, as unbelievable as it sounds, some are there for convenience. Although most Trads have to drive 1 hour or more for a Tridentine Mass, some people luck out and their CLOSEST chapel is a nice strict one (like the old SSPX). In other words, the Indult or FSSP is actually farther away from them than a stricter (SSPX, CMRI) chapel. So here they are attending Mass with an excellent group (the old SSPX) but they don't understand the Trad movement, much less Archbishop Lefebvre. They are just there because it's a reverent Mass and it's close by.

I know for a fact that some parishioners aren't Trad at all -- I knew of at least one case where an older lady was going to the Novus Ordo and the SSPX indiscriminately. Can you say she really understands the Crisis and what the SSPX stands for? She obviously doesn't understand the Crisis, since she still goes to the Novus Ordo!

    Truth is stranger than fiction.
