I know of those who were "Children of Mary" and those who are currently "Children of Mary", but have not heard of this. Do you have more information on why you "think it was misdirected" and "used to spy and report to the Sisters"?

Thanks for asking.
Got this firsthand, from an ex St. Mary's teacher who was involved in it.

I used the word "misdirected" because they had "Child of Mary" students going through the suspect girls' belongings, while they were out of their dorm rooms.

"Organized Snitching", might be a charitable description.
Easy to see how this could be "misdirected", when the commies employed similar informant tactics, under the guise of keeping their doctrines pure.

That's odd as "Children of Mary" are for high school girls and thus they would not be at the college dorm. It seems that there is more to this story that would need to be known so as to make the situation clear before we can accuse the SSPX Sisters of using the Children of Mary as informants.

In Canada the Children of Mary was an organizaiton for children, boys and girls in the first 8 grades.
In high school the girls joined the Sodality of Our Lady and the boys joined  Junior Holy Name Society.
The girls could remain in the Sodality until they got engaged, the boys in Jr. Holy Name until about age 21.
When the girls got engaged, they joined the Christian Mothers for formation and remained there for life.
Each of the groups had their own medals, prayer books etc.
Married people were not allowed in the Sodality.

They have a high-school dorm program that used to be big (84 girls) but it collapsed.

Yeah, entering the rooms and going through students belongings multiple times.  Who authorized the children?
They had a secular director running the dorm, but not full-time.  The Sisters were not living in the same building.

I'll stand by the word "misdirected".
