Title: Is there any reason that Mass cannot be attended at Boston?
Post by: OldMerry on November 24, 2015, 05:48:58 PM
Is there, right now, any reason that Mass cannot be attended at Boston, KY?  If one goes in, goes to Mass, and leaves.  One is there for the Mass only.  Are there any reasons why this place should be off limits for just going to Mass?  Would the Mass itself, the altar, the chapel, be off limits for any reason.  Many thanks for help with this.

If you mean for Sunday Mass, one reason would be that they might not have a priest.
But during the week, apparently they do have a priest for Mass, and maybe confession.

No - not if there is a priest or not, but due to the activities there, or "Bishop Moran" having used the altar (or not) - any of that.

Did the holy, royal archpatriarch "consecrate" hosts for the communion of the faithful?  That would be my only sacramental concern.

There are other concerns, like Fr. Pfeiffer solidifying himself as an ego-maniacal cult leader. That "seems legit" a reason as any to stay away.

Now was Moran ordained?  Or was he just not a bishop?  If he was not ordained, and then stood at the OLMC altar and "simulated" a True Mass, does that make that altar off limits for saying Mass upon, or attending any Mass there, now that that has happened?  The Holy Eucharist problem is doubtless gone, as those hosts would have been consumed by now.  Is this, or any other reason, a current impediment to being allowed to attend Mass there?  That's the question some local people are asking.

I don't think anyone knows for sure.  At the very least, there's positive doubt, which would require staying away from him.  Even if he had been ordained by some Autocephalous Orthodox type, who knows if their line of orders is even valid?

So now that he is gone, can that chapel be attended for Mass ... all other craziness, new or otherwise, notwithstanding - ?!

I don't see why not.  If we were to "Red Light" them for no obvious or grave reason, then we would be doing the very same thing that we object to their doing.
