I think there is a sort of merger happening, a hybrid modernist conservative mix with traditionalist. Just my hunch because this is how Satan deceives the elect.
100%. We can be sure that the SSPX have been thoroughly infiltrated, and that both sides have already choreographed this little Kayfabe.
SSPX posturing as exhibiting the same toughness that +Lefebvre did in 1988 will thereby appease the "hard-liners" and undermine the allegations that they're compromisers.
But ... at the last second, the problem will be solved.
That's one scenario.
Other is that they go through with it, and of course they'll pick the most Modernist of the Modernists embedded in SSPX for consecration ... and Prevost will excommunicate not only the bishops but also the priests and faithful who remain with SSPX. I found it odd that +Fellay was suggesting that the faithful would be excommunicated. I would not expect that at all ... unless he knows something we don't, and is in on the entire production.
That would result in a huge defection of priests and massive drop in attendance, probably well north of 50%. And, of course, that huge drop in revenue would mean that the wildly-imprudent spending projects they've undertaken would go bust, and SSPX would have to declare bankruptcy, and the creditors would start seizing even the paid-for SSPX properties to pay off the debt.
See, SSPX numbers swelled artificially after Bergs gave them jurisdiction, on account of "Mercy" (aka, the year of, and all that jazz) ... since SSPX could then lure in the reluctant with claims that "we're on great terms with the bishop, and he even sends a presbyter over to witness marriages" ... presenting some illusion of "regularity" (which, if you want regularity, eat more fiber). So, the number are artificially inflated by those who are not particularly committed to Tradition at any cost.
Bishop Williamson would make comments like: "I'm excommunicated. Are you jealous?" ... to which we would always respond in the affirmative, and we'd make comments requesting that "Rome" please "excommunitycate" us also. After 1988, there were about 5.9% defection, 12 priests out of 202. I can see it approaching 30% of priests, and likely 60%+ of the "faithful".
In any case, speaking to the modern crowd of SSPXer laity, I can sense that they're terrified of even the bishops being excommunicated and people thinking they might be "schismatic". I told them that only the bishops would be "excommunicated" (if you believe that it's even real) and that it's not contagious, and not even the priests would be, just that priests ordained by them would be "suspended", but then aren't all Trad priests in the eyes of the Conciliars? But I can tell they weren't buying that ... despite it being obviously true.
So, if that turns out to have been Bergoglio's "long game", where you swell their numbers with uncommitted pseudo-Trads (who also serve to poison commitment to Tradition in general), and send Krah in with Jaidhof money, to encourage out-of-control wild spending, and THEN yank the rug out of under them, resulting in a catastrophic collapse ... then I only have this to say ...
