The Irish flag should have the image of St. Patrick in the white center panel!

The tricolour is based on the revolutionary flag of France. The green represents the Irish Catholics, the Orange the protestants, and the white is peace between them. It is an ecuмenical flag. The fenians who first used it believed firmly in religious liberty. They then went and made it the flag of the republic when they gained partial independence for Ireland.
