  • Can anyone tell me what's odd about this page from St. Joseph's Priory in Michigan?

    https://stjosephs-priory.com/en/religious-staff-st-josephs-church

PS: I'm not just coming out and saying what it is, because maybe its just me (on the other hand, if others pick up on it...).

  • Well, the bio for Fr. Gillilan mentions he is the fourth priest at the Armada priory.  But there are only three priests listed.

    Correct:

4 priests are pictured and stationed there, but there are only bio's for 3.

Nothing about Fr. Steven Webber (i.e., the invisible 4th priest).

I wonder why that might be?

I can tell you this much: It isn't an oversight.

  • A mutual friend reminds me that Fr Webber has been stationed in Chicago for a few years now.

I think he just got moved, so maybe that info isn't updated yet.

  • Might he simply be in residence at the priory and travels to other parishes?

That is correct, Fr. Steven Webber is being transfered to the Ridgefield priory and he's replacing Monsignor James Byrnes, the latter is being transfered to Georgia, where I assume he will be helping out Fr. Christopher Danel.

    Not exactly:

As stated earlier, Fr. Webber has been in Chicago for some time (ie., not St. Joseph’s).

As for the transfer to Ridgefield, that might be a blessing for them, since the outgoing priest (Byrne) has never been conditionally ordained.

A few years ago Fr. Webber left St. Joseph's to go on a sabbatical, no idea what he's doing now. If I get the opportunity I will find out next Sunday. St. Joseph's does have 4 priests, but that website is out of date, the fourth priest is Fr. Crane.

    Dear Sean,
Is this the "Monsignor" who was the editor of Latin Mass Magazine?

I haven't followed the Latin Mass Magazine in 20+ years, so not sure, but a brief bio is offered here (which makes no mention of it):

Oh, wow...  I hadn't heard of Monsignor Byrne before.  Thank you for sharing!  It is really too bad the SSPX aren't more concerned about the validity of these new priests and bishops joining them...
