While I do not retract my earlier position on this matter, that this is a bad move, it should be noted that Fr. RdeC is among the anti-agreement priests, who has ensured that the French district likewise hold firm on this matter... While I cannot fathom his reasons, I cannot imagine that he is doing this with the intention of helping +Fellay reach an agreement in peace.
Besides, regardless of his intentions, the appeal has not had the planned result - only one forum has shut down, those who want information will still be able to find it. We can be grateful for that. Be soft, therefore, in any criticisms of Fr. RdeC, as he is fighting the good fight, even if his tactics seem somewhat off.

    Agree!

He is probably hoping to storm Heaven with prayer seeing the Society coming apart and the SG coming out of the Roman closet.

I may not agree with his request to shut down forums but I understand why he asked.  He probably figured if the forums were closed people would pray better being quieted inside from all the upsetness.

It was a well meaning request I'm sure, but it is important to keep lines open.

This is most interesting. Thanks to Matthew for resisting. Will have its price though. Where's the catacombs!

The SSPX leadership doing the sellout is shady and commands the faithful to turn of the lights, so to speak. When will we be ordered to abstain from the biggest threat to the liberals in the entire Internet -- the Eleison Comments?

The truth will come to light.

P.S. But this is a pretty good litmus test.

I agree Ethelred, we must remember what St. Pius X said in Pascendi:

    Quote
Venerable Brethren, how unavailing have been Our efforts. For a moment they have bowed their head, only to lift it more arrogantly than before. If it were a matter which concerned them alone, We might perhaps have overlooked it; but the security of the Catholic name is at stake. Wherefore We must interrupt a silence which it would be criminal to prolong, that We may point out to the whole Church, as they really are, men who are badly disguised

    Just to clarify:

    No one has threatened IA.

    Patricius supports all four bishops.

And what with the general atmosphere on the forum at the moment, he decided to heed Fr de Cacqueray's advice, and close the forum until Pentecost.

All very "high-sounding", but with this action, Ignis Ardens essentially became complicit in the SSPX hijacking.

No coincidence the French District superior requested silence until Pentecost
Sunday, when the announcment was to already have been made.
Why did you fall for it?

Ignis Ardens joined Bp. Fellay, this week, in a big loss of credibility.
The American term for you is "chumps".
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

Having had over 24 hours to mull over my decision to close IA in light of the French District Superior's request that all pro-SSPX fora close until Pentecost, I have realised that it was the wrong thing to do.

Ignis Ardens is open again, but please keep discussion of Bishop Fellay to his recent decisions rather than resorting to ad hominems.

    Please accept my sincere apologies.

    PATRICIUS.

  • Glad IA is back up.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.
