  • For most SSPXers, the priests fly/drive in on Saturday night, do the mass Sunday, and as many confessions as they can fit before mass, give a sermon, say good morning/goodby and drive away. No?

Some are fortunate to live where there is a priory, and they have mass every day. I live in such a place, but I don't notice any difference except that we can go to mass every day. There is nothing else, but work to gourmet feed, house, and pay for the cars etc.

    Catechism for adults? None.
    Insipid sermons on Sunday.
Elimination of all books about Organized Naturalism (because it mentions Jєωs), and practically all books, but Angelus press.
The priests avoid talking to the people like if the people were interrupting their silence
The priests strictly do the mass and go back into their cave.

They have become like the Novus Ordo priests. Facade priests.

Yes, that is basically our experience too.

  • The way things are for our parish, the only difference between here and the indult mass, is that the SSPX priests have valid orders.

  • Such is the sad situation this neo-SSPX has taken. The "old" SSPX I knew had regular Catachism classes for adults, the priests were open to discuss any subject matter and spoke in a manner that encouraged/inspired me to get closer to God. The Truth was plainly spoken and none of this obey, obey, obey talk ever came out unless it was directed towards God.

They used to have Catholic Charity. They used to be truly worried about our salvation and welfare.
    They used to be Catholics....

Nevertheless, we have to hold fast to the True Faith and fight this liberal modenistic plague that's on the path to destruct so many good souls.

We all have to our part and let all of those whom are still in the dark to see the obvious differences between ABL's SSPX vs. the neo-SSPX.

The best quick solution is to start a humble mission that the parishioners can afford, (own/rent), a mission for the real priests left in the SSPX who have fire in their furnaces, like Bp. W, Fr.s Pfeiffer, Hewko, etc.

As time goes by, the real SSPX faithful, those that have not gone "comfort", will eventually be convinced of why we left, and they will then come over. Anyhow, our fight is not about popularity, it is about truth. The only reason to care for the others, is because they are in danger of loosing their children souls forever. Some people only learn by their mistakes, and too late.

  • I do not dispute that you have written an accurate depiction of what has occurred at your particular chapel.

But I have not had the same experience at mine.

The priest at my chapel will even come to your house for confessions, if you cannot make it to the chapel early enough before Mass.

Sermons have regularly denounced the 2nd Vatican Council (especially since the struggle within the SSPX began).

He is on the sidewalk and/or in the basement after having made his thanksgiving to talk with the parishioners.

The point: Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.  There are many good ones still holding the course in which no perceptible difference pre/post CHapter can be detected; the damage Menzingen is causing has not yet trickled down in all locales; I think those who are suspected to be closet hardliners are being given their freedom....for now.

I'm disturbed that it took until post #7 (Seraphim's post, above) to inject some sanity into this thread!

Bowler, I agree 100% with Seraphim. I'm sorry you have a mediocre priest now, but things are *NOT* like that everywhere.

We still have adult catechism, and I don't think our bookstore has been "purged". Our priests sermons haven't changed (though I will always prefer Fr. Timothy Pfeiffer's "lean on the podium and talk heart-to-heart, off-the-cuff" style. Our priest certainly prepares his sermons. I wouldn't call them insipid though, and he often talks about Vatican II and the Pope)

You shouldn't exaggerate, bowler. I'm sure a few priests gave "boring" sermons before the SSPX Crisis began.

One thing I'd agree with you on, is that a Fr. Novak, Fr. Pfeiffer -- all those old-school SSPX priests who were real go-getters with a bit of personality -- wouldn't make it through Seminary today. They are considered the "wrong kind of priest" according to the SSPX today, though I completely disagree.

You have to be a phlegmatic Francophile to pass muster today.

  • Some people here are doing a good job of discrediting this anti-accord movement by throwing out wild accusations and factless criticism constantly. As I've said before, we have enough to be against without 'stretching' what is is we should be against.

Imagine someone coming to CathInfo for the first time and seeing these sorts of posts. I, for one, would probably be turned off and not care to come back again. Now, if they're turned off to the principles of the Archbishop and Bishop Williamson, then let them go their way. But to be off put by immature comments like this, is disheartening. Think about the impact your words have on those sorts of people. Try to be more like Bishop Williamson, using "thoughtful measuring" when we write.

  • And the absolute SILENCE from every SSPX pulpit on the expulsion of Bishop Williamson doesn't disturb anyone???

Sometimes I really wonder what people are thinking these days. We should be outraged by the deafening silence from all the priests. I don't give a hoot what they say anymore but I sure am damn ticked off by what they are NOT saying!!!!!
