I was wondering about +Vigano's mention of Msgr. Ratzinger's recent letter. +Vigano calls Ratzinger's letter an 'intervention.' Why call it that? An intervention implies, in my mind, an effort to correct something. I may be reading it wrong.
Apparently, Steubenville University had a conference to study the thought of Msgr. Ratzinger, to whom the Cardinal sent a letter of which it is reported that "The four-page letter includes an insightful personal summary of the direction of his own thought..."
It seems therefore that Msgr. Ratzinger went into some detail regarding his own thoughts, which might suggst that he was concerned to make sure the conference properly understood him?
I'm guessing it is in this sense that Msgr. Vigano refers to Ratzinger's "intervention," but who knows. Sounds like we're going to find out very soon.
