The fact that their LEADERSHIP has lost its way, along with a good % of the priests, including all those in leadership positions, spells doom for the SSPX at least on an earthly level. It would take a supernatural miracle, a mass conversion/purge, to purify and turn around the SSPX at this point. Don't kid yourself for a minute.
Remember, it doesn't take supernatural virtue to hate the Novus Ordo. The Novus Ordo is revolting on a natural level (especially for men). It doesn't take grace or supernature to be turned off by that. Nor does it take supernature/grace to be attracted to the beauty of the Tridentine Mass, pre-Vatican II architecture, Gregorian chant, good art, etc.
I, for one, do not kid myself that there are serious problems in the SSPX. Fortunately, there is an excellent older priest at the SSPX chapel that I occasionally attend. Thank goodness he wasn't moved this last year. I do dread the day when he is moved, because it means that a younger, less well-formed priest may replace him. But I'll still probably go there anyway. Gotta get the sacraments from somewhere.
