Yeah I was going to say, many of us have had serious problems with a trad here and there or even a priest here and there or even a clique. It's no excuse for hatred of the whole group.

Indeed. That is like saying "I hate people" or "I hate men". It's simply too broad. Such a phrase merely demonstrates that a person is full of hatred.

What defines a "Trad Catholic"? A Catholic who is serious about keeping the Faith during the present apostasy/Crisis in the Church. A Catholic who leaves his local parish and seeks out traditionally-formed priests who says Mass in a pre-Vatican II manner and preaches the pre-Vatican II Catholic Faith.

How can you specifically hate this group of people? In terms of religion, this group of people is SECOND TO NONE among all such groups you could list! No matter how many bad apples you find in the bunch, what religious group are you going to prefer? Seriously!

I mean, are Baptists and Hindus no problem? You have no problem or prejudice against heretics, but right off the bat you are prejudiced against those darn faithful members of Christ's own Church!

That is extremely messed up.

It's like saying, "I hate people who try to be good. They're all a bunch of sinners and hypocrites!"

Yes...all men are sinners, and we all fall short of our lofty goals to try to be moral, upright, and good people. However, you can't hate "people who try to be good" too much, because they sure beat the alternative -- "those who have given themselves over to evil and don't even try to be good"!

Another quote from Pablo I heard first-hand (sent to me via e-mail):

"I will teach my children to beware of Trads first, and the devil second."

Once again, the hatred dripping from Pablo is almost palpable. And not just any hatred, but hatred towards who? The most devoted followers of Christ.

We're talking about Traditional Catholics!

Probably because years ago, a group of them conspired against him, made up some phony accusations and had him arrested.

The judge summarily dismissed it and called it the total B.S. that it was.

I don't believe, with Pablo, that Trads are so rotten that they get together and conspire against innocent Catholics just because they're so wicked.

THAT is ridiculous.

Now I do believe that individual Trads have serious issues -- psychological, personality, spiritual, and some of them are even "rotten" to use a common, earthy, imprecise term.

But I don't believe that groups get together in a conspiracy to slander something good, just for the sake of good old Satan. That is precisely what the SSPX used to say about the Resistance, remember!

When you're talking a GROUP getting together, starting something and drawing in a few others, etc. you'd have to either have some truth to go on, or you'd need someone as good at manipulating crowds as Adolf Hitler. Most Trads wouldn't qualify for that position.

It's not ridiculous, it's what happened.

When I said group, I meant about a half-dozen or so.

No, no manipulation was required. I am sure they all sincerely believed they were doing the right thing at the time.

The charges were totally unrelated to anything at the Church.

I think they wanted him gone, and it just backfired, legally. Even though they eventually got him out anyway. And the priest(s) along with him.

Priests have been run out of parishes, too - not just individuals.

So, please - do not give some sort of special charism of "good behavior" to all Trads. They are all stained with Original Sin, as are we all here.

You know, Doc White is famous for saying Trads are their own worst enemies and an awful group of misfits.

I don't really think Doc is wrong on that.

I've been all over to LOTS of parishes and it is usually quite a ragtag group of misfits.

That's just reality.

Phoenix's parish is a bit of an anomaly at the moment compared to its earlier years. It's more "camera-ready" than it ever was in the past.

But, we are talking about Pablo here and his use of the word hate. Pablo is known for his hyperbole, and so I think it should be taken with a grain of salt. He certainly has friends who are Catholics that he does not hate.

Doc White?  I think you should address to the audience here who you are referring to properly. His name is... Dr. Allen White. The way you refer to him, makes me suspicious of you. If this makes no sense to you,  disregard what I say.

Opps! Too late for edit... I meant Dr. David Allen White.
