  • Received in an e-mail this morning, which quoted a thread on Cor Mariae (one of the half-dozen "micro forums" out there with 200 members or less).

Who knows if it's true or not, but we can pray that the Catholics in the Idaho area will keep their Catholic sense and not give in to the temptation of sectarianism.

As of yesterday Sunday February 21, 2016 the Idaho Resistance group Our Lady of Good Success is no longer associated with Fr Pfeiffer or Our Lady of Mt. Carmel USA and its affiliates.

The group plans to work with other Resistance priests and bishops.

I read the follow-ups to this original post, but they aren't worth repeating. But regardless of the accuracy (or inaccuracy) of this report, the posts in this thread are real, as are the slanderous accusations against Bishop Williamson, Bishop Faure, and the priests they work with.

This reaction from Fr. Pfeiffer and his mind-slaves (cult followers) is completely predictable. In this thread, they moan about a "coup", "takeover", and how they alone are the faithful followers of +ABL.  They viciously attack Bishop Williamson and other Resistance priests as if they were from the fifth circle of Hell. And, of course, there are a few holdouts in Post Falls (as in many other locations), whom Fr. Pfeiffer will "soldier on" and continue to say Mass for, even though they probably can't pay for the plane ticket anymore. What a waste of resources.

I honestly wonder if I even share a religion with some of these cult members. I am a traditional Catholic, but in my religion it's sinful to slander priests and bishops. These people think it's OK, because the ends justifies the means (another principle that is condemned by the Catholic Faith). Of course, they got that doctrine from Fr. Pfeiffer himself, who has also strayed from Catholic morality "for the cause" whenever it suited him.

  • Very similar to the situation of them attacking Fr. Zendejas: he didn't sign the "charter" (read: make a public statement of doctrinal position), therefore he's not a Resistance priest, and thus not a true follower of +Lefebvre.

    2 problems:

1.) The Church is bigger than the SSPX (understood here as the original, not the NEO) and +Lefebvre. One can legitimately disagree with them on things and still be just as Catholic. The idea of "we're the only true sons of +Lefebvre" is almost cult-ish now with Boston, and having experienced the place, I would say that self-portrait is not accurate.

2.) If they're so loyal to +Lefebvre, why not a public withdrawal of support/contact of all kinds with Ambrose? Perhaps they should issue a public statement to the effect of re-affirming the Catholic Faith and reject any "flirtations" with Orthodoxy.

Mathew, I've seen you refere to these terms "sectariansism" and "home-aloneism."  Just what do you mean?  I believe I have my Faith today due to the very fact of being a "home-aloner."  I was born shortly after  Vatican II and have never witnessed a NO Mass.  I very infrequently attended Mass in my early years because of the few traditional Priests of this time.  I remember my grandmother writing Bp Williamson (Fr.Williamson at the time) about there not being a Mass to attend.  He would respond by saying "It is better the Faith and no Mass than the Mass and no Faith."  My family may, as early as the end of this week, may possibly be in this same state of affairs as that of my youth. It might very well be for the same reasons of that of Idaho.  I really believe that what the Bishop said to my grandmother years ago, hold very true for today.  I will not compromise my Faith for the Mass!

This is why I did not join the sedevacantists back in the early 1990s. Local groups were not under any bishops, and so priests were not accountable to anyone but themselves. Scandals ensued and a few priests even left to get married and took parish funds with them.  Enough said.

Christ instituted His Holy Apostles to rule the Church, and Bishops are the successors to these Apostles.
    Lord have mercy.

Home aloneism - there are two kinds. Accidental and dogmatic. When I use the term, I am usually referring to the DOGMATIC variety, who stay at home every Sunday for dogmatic reasons. Perhaps they don't believe the Traditional Movement has a right to start "illicit" chapels, yet they won't go to the Novus Ordo. Or they believe there are no valid priests left, or no priests whose Masses they're OK with attending. Usually these dogmatic home aloners have added dogmas to the Faith that don't exist, or in some way made the Church Crisis worse than it has to be. (i.e., they reduce the available Masses from uncommon or rare to virtually non-existent).

If you live in rural Arkansas and have no Tridentine Mass within a 3 hour drive, then obviously it's not your fault you don't have a Mass to attend. (You might want to look into moving in the long-term, but that's another story.) Your lack of Mass isn't because you are being too picky about priests or doctrine.

Long story short, God will judge your situation. If you stay home on Sunday, just make sure you have a good reason. (Not having a sure, valid Tridentine Mass within a reasonable driving distance is certainly a good reason). But if a person stays home because the only Tridentine Mass is said by a priest from a "different group", or the priest has an accent, etc. then I'll just wish him the best at his Personal Judgment. But I doubt this censure applies to you.

Sectarianism is simple. It's where you cut off sections of the Mystical Body of Christ. It's where you declare various groups, priests, and individual Catholics to be not Catholic. Who does a sectarian consider a fellow Catholic? Generally only those in his own group -- sometimes it's just those at his local chapel -- make the cut.
