  • At my SSPX chapel, I felt pretty lucky in that I felt we had priests who were genuinely Catholic and joined the society because they believed in Tradition.  But then we got one priest/school principal who succeeded in displaying numerous pictures of Francis, shaking hands with and spreading Novus Ordo beliefs, and transforming the school into solely a fundraising organization.

I hope this isn’t the future of the SSPX - one of cultural/professional Catholicism.

What kind of Novus Ordo beliefs were being spread?

Well, a big issue is the relationships he forges with the local N.O. schools and parishes.  We have our annual Jog-A-Thon at a local N.O. boys’ school.  Before we just used a park track.  He has an arrangement where he hears the N.O. boys’ confessions in exchange for using their school track.  At no point does he say anything is wrong with the modern church.  Like I mentioned, one of his first acts was posting big pictures of Francis in the school.  The parish he takes care of there was an incident where he said (I heard second hand) in a sermon that everyone- even pagans to Heaven.  Someone shouted out “heresy!” in response.  In religion class he told my daughter (again I heard this second hand) that what determines what a sin is, is if it contributes to an ultimate good.  Also, in a lesson on the sacrament of Matrimony he said that people are born ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ or heterosɛҳuąƖ- both are perfectly healthy.  I don’t know why ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖity was even discussed considering the age of the children and that ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖs should not be anywhere near the sacrament of matrimony.  I believe this is just the tip of the iceberg;  I am not part of some network of gossipers;  he’s probably doing a whole lot more to “modernize” the SSPX.

If you heard it yourself, then it warrants reporting this matter to the prior or superior, with proof. If nothing was done after a considerable period of time, then it warrants revealing the name of the person for the common good.

It has been reported along with numerous academic problems at the school.  I wasn’t the only parent who became aware of this and other troubling issues. They, too, communicated with the prior and school superior off in Idaho. We docuмented a lot of the issues in emails with the priest in question, which we shared with our prior and schools superior.  Other upset parents just chose to leave the school in silence. Our prior, whom I have good faith in, has stepped in to do what he can for our academy children.  The main issue is that there are priests in the society who lean too much toward the N.O. church.  They are seem to be “cultural Catholics” and “professional priests.” By that I mean they wear a cassock ONLY because they come from a trad family and are priests ONLY as a career.
