Yes, it seems likely that Huonder’s consecration of holy oils is a preparation of the faithful for the acceptance of Rome-approved (or even Rome-consecrated) bishops (Note the proximity of +Williamson's revelation of rumors of imminent episcopal consecrations, with Huonder consecrating holy oils a couple weeks later).

I suspect they wanted this news to be widely diffused, to use it as a trial balloon and gauge their "progress:"

If there are no grumblings in the ranks or pews (and there aren't), it signals to Rome that it is safe to give the SSPX bishops; no need to fear the SSPX any more; they are no threat to conciliarism..."

Bump.
Notice the date of Sean's post !!!

Saw this yesterday on a French site: They are reposting from: Editions Saint-Rémi. [ESR]
Sorry, that link is not provided as far as I can tell.

...Important information is communicated to us by Editions Saint-Remi. The involvement of the false bishop Vitus Huonder in the future ordinations and future consecrations of the FSSPX (Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius If, as seems to be confirmed day by day, "Mgr" Vitus Huonder was to ordain priests or consecrate bishops for the Society of Saint Pius X....

Unofficial Translation.

ESR: "...However, we are witnessing operations on the part of the superiors of the SSPX which seem very serious to us. Indeed the involvement of the dubious bishop Vitus Huonder in the future ordinations and future consecrations of the FSSPX, was announced on April 18, 2023 by videoconference to the leaders of the FSSPX by Father Pagliarani, superior of the work founded by Mgr Lefebvre. Vitus Huonder was consecrated in the new rites of Paul VI. The validity of these new rites is called into question according to numerous studies that we publish (...), both because of the form of the sacrament which contain alterations in its meaning, and the legitimacy of those who promulgated them. The wolf in the fold, Vitus Huonder, was introduced on May 20, 2019 by Father Pagliarani into the FSSPX, to allegedly “dedicate himself to prayer and silence”, is now activated by Menzingen (General House of the FSSPX) who makes him officiate as a validly consecrated bishop. He thus falsely consecrated the “holy” oils during the Chrism Mass on Maundy Thursday 2023..."

++++++
ESR was dragged to court in 2011 for publishing 3 Volume Set of "Sermons de Mgr. Marcel Lefebvre".
They had a contract with the relatives of +L, but the FSSPX thought differently.  I will post an article on this important shift of the Society before Christmas. Their accusations reveal a root principle that introduced  + F Declaration (2012).
Hint: Attacking the enemies of the Church is not a position the neoSSPX values any longer.
iws that is

That's a good analogy, but I had to think about that for a few seconds...As the saying goes: Something is the ' tip of an iceberg', but no, the 2012 DDeclaration ,is T H E  ICEBERG - the accuмulation of many "tips of the iceberg" . It wounded the integrity of Mgr Lefebvre's life's work.  Do you think the SSPX ship is still visible above the waves? If it is then it might collide with other icebergs in 2026. ??

  Related: Have you heard about Fr Paul Schoondbroodt? I just posted his  letter in French, March 25, 2011  in the thread Valeurs Traditionnelles...  He was spreading +L sermons for the world to read- Fsspx then excommunicated him or something...I am still reading.::)
