WITH FR. GIROUARD'S PERMISSION: EMAIL TO HIS GROUPS (MARCH 25TH, 2026):

Dear friends,

You may remember I have said, from the beginning, that there will be no excommunication against the Society's bishops on July 1st. And that all we were seeing was a show to make Society Priests and faithful believe the Society leadership was back to the 2006 General Chapter resolution: "No practical Agreement with Rome without a Doctrinal Agreement".

Why such a show of a fight with New-Rome? Why declare that no discussions are possible because Rome is so far away and so much against Traditional Liturgy and Traditional doctrine? Why declare the Society will consecrate new bishops no matter what, and that even the threat of excommunication will not stop the Society?

Because, if the Pope was to officially give the Society a Papal Mandate to consecrate its own new Bishops, it would become clear, to a good number of SSPX priests and faithful, that a secret recognition had previously been granted by Rome to the Society. This would, in turn, make these people understand the Resistance was right all along, and they might join it.

This is why we have been submitted to a barrage of loud noises from the Society and Rome since February 2nd.

For all intents and purposes, it LOOKS like there is an unbreakable wall between the SSPX and Rome.

But I have always said this was a show, and there will be no excommunications on July 1st. That the Pope will say the Church is a Mother who loves all her children of good will, and so forth and so on.

Now, guess what?

In the last 2 days, Pope Leo XIV has made 2 very public declarations that go towards a more traditional approach on Liturgy, and on Doctrine.

On the 24th, he asked the French Bishops to find ways to understand and accommodate the faithful who are attached to the Vetus Ordo (Old Rite of Mass). Because the Church is a Mother, and the Liturgy is supposed to be a sign and means of unity. Of course, this goes against Traditionis Custodes of Pope Francis.

Today, during his General Audience in Rome, he gave the traditional interpretation of a text of the Council about the Church Hierarchy. He went against the Modernist trend that, misinterpreting St. Paul's words, says we are all priests in the same way by virtue of Baptism.

Indeed, the Pope reiterated the sacred and distinct character of the Priesthood, and said it was instituted to bring salvation to the world by fruitful sacraments and faithful teaching of Christ's Doctrine.  This goes against false ecuмenism.

Of course, we will have to see more and concrete actions from the Pope to believe he repudiates Francis' doctrines about false religions being willed by God, and from Francis' (and his own 1995) cult of the Pachamama. And that he also repudiates Francis' attacks on the Traditional Liturgy.

But, and therefore, it is interesting to see the Pope publicly talk in a more traditional way, 4 months or so before the deadline of the July 1st Episcopal Consecrations.

It may be some sort of steps towards the positions of the SSPX, allowing it to say that, after all, Rome is not hopeless, and Leo is not Francis, and maybe we could talk doctrine and reach an agreement...

And now guess more what?

One day BEFORE these two articles from Rome, the SSPX has published a piece on its official website, about a meeting the Pope had with two researchers who studied in detail the communities attached to the Old Mass. It says the Pope is interested in learning more about Traditional Communities.

And the article says this interaction the Pope has with people attached to Tradition has been going on for months!

My goodness! How come the SSPX didn't tell us these things in February, when it made us believe there was no hope left about Rome?

WOW! WHAT A TIMING!

In any case, below are extracts from the official SSPX website, with a link to the full text, as well as extracts from the Pope's declarations, also with links to the full texts, coming from the official Vatican website.

As I said since the beginning: Let's pop the corn and the beer cans and enjoy the Circus: The Biggest Show on Earth!

With love and blessings,

Fr. Girouard

1- March 23, 2026: SSPX article on Pope Leo's interest in Traditional Communities:
(...) This audience at the Apostolic Palace does not appear to be an isolated event. Rather, it fits into a schedule of audiences that has been particularly busy since last summer. Pope Leo XIV has successively received leading figures of conservative and even traditionalist thought, most notably Cardinals Burke, Sarah, Zen, and Müller, as well as bishops such as Msgr. Athanasius Schneider. For many Vatican observers, this proliferation of exchanges suggests a desire to bridge the divides that emerged from the apostolic letter Traditionis custodes, published in 2021 by his predecessor. By taking a close look at sociological data regarding the American traditionalist community, one of the most dynamic in the world, is the Supreme Pontiff perhaps seeking a path toward stabilizing the global liturgical situation?

It seems, at the very least, that he is inclined to familiarize himself with an issue he admitted was quite foreign to him at the beginning of his pontificate, an issue, however, that recent events surrounding the announcement of episcopal consecrations within the Society of Saint Pius X have once again thrust into the spotlight. (...).

2- March 24th, 2026: Pope Leo's Letter to the French Bishops for their annual Lourdes Meeting.
(...) If the Church is a mother who cares for her children, he said, she must heal wounds and learn to look upon others “with renewed understanding and greater sensitivity."

He therefore invites the Bishops, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to seek “concrete solutions” that will generously include those sincerely attached to the Vetus Ordo, while remaining faithful to the directions of the Second Vatican Council. (...).

3- March 25th 2026.: Pope Leo's General Audience in Rome.
(...) “Since the Apostles are called to faithfully preserve the Master’s salvific teaching,” he said, “they hand on their ministry to men who, until Christ’s return, continue to sanctify, guide and instruct the Church through their successors in pastoral office.”

The Second Vatican Council sought to explain the fundamental structure of the Church, not merely present her external form, he said.

Lumen gentium focuses on the “ministerial or hierarchical priesthood,” which is different “in essence and in degree” from the common priesthood of the faithful.

Though all of baptized Christians participate in the one priesthood of Christ, said the Pope, those men entrusted with ministerial priesthood have been endowed with sacra potestas, or “sacred power” for the service of the Church.

Bishops, priests, and deacons each bear a task—munera in Latin—in order to serve the People of God in a unique way so that all may arrive at salvation.

Pope Leo XIV said the Church’s hierarchy is both an internal reality and an external expression of the apostolic mission to service.

“We can therefore understand,” he said, “why Saint Paul VI presented the hierarchy as a reality ‘born of the charity of Christ, to fulfil, spread and ensure the intact and fruitful transmission of the wealth of faith, examples, precepts and charisms bequeathed by Christ to His Church’.”

In conclusion, Pope Leo prayed that the Lord may send ministers for His Church who are filled with evangelical charity and willing to become courageous missionaries in every part of the world. (...).

I also believe that a big scrip is being executed. The names of the future bishops will probably confirm this. Let's wait and see.

A video I listened to yesterday had the show host, a pure indulterer Mass type, tell his meeting with a N.O. bishop months ago.. He told that bishop that it was really wonderful to see 20K pilgrims participate in the Trad. Paris / Chartres pilgrimage. But that French bishop was not pleased, and simply said they are in schism.
Then the podcast host was ecstatic that Pope Leo had given directives March 24? to the French bishops to be nice to tradition.  So in reality, many bishops despise Tradition, and one can suppose this is simply Pope Leo publicizing  a part of the script.  Probably every month we will gets positive news about Rome's position vis-à-vis Trad movement; and  no excommunication...criticisms will peter out! hmm... the shcare of Peter . ? ;)

How long before the 1988 consecrations were the future bishops' names released? Does it matter that the faithful know who they will be ahead of time? Do they have any right to know?

Old post: Translated from a few sources.

https://www.cathinfo.com/sspx-resistance-news/the-original-four/msg979772/#msg979772

"...Finally, Archbishop Lefebvre takes matters into his own hands:

“That is why, to our great regret, we are obliged to ask you that, before the date of 1 June, you clearly indicate to us what the intentions of the Holy See are on these two points: consecration of the three bishops applied for 30 June and majority of the members of the Tradition in the Roman Commission. Without replying to these requests, I will publish the names of the candidates that I will be consecrating on 30 June with the assistance of S. Exc. Monsignor de Castro Mayer. My health, the apostolic necessities for the growth of our works, no longer allow for additional time.”

“That is why we will give ourselves the means to continue the work that Providence has entrusted to us, assured by the letter of His Eminence Cardinal Ratzinger of 30 May, that the episcopal consecration is not contrary to the will of the Holy See, since it is granted by 15 August. We will continue to pray that modern Rome, infested with modernism, will return to Catholic Rome..."

Finally, the Press conference June 15 ?, 1988, + L speaks of FOUR bishops.
We must place the events that are taking place today that are going to happen in the near future – particularly the episcopal consecration of four young bishops on 30 June – in the context of our difficulties with Rome, not only since 1970, since the founding of Fraternity, but since the Council..."

Your question about our right to know, good question. Don't the candidates go on retreat for a few days before the consecration? Better if the names are hidden somewhat, just to keep peace in a parish. There could also be some investigation in the priest's background, so yes, patience is the great Natural Virtue...
