Title: How Do I Become a Priest?
Post by: ExultChristCrucified on May 05, 2022, 03:58:41 PM
God bless you my brothers and sisters in Christ our Lord. My name is Matthew B. This is my first post. I love this awesome site! Thanks to the Mod Matthew.

I have a question. I have an overwhelming desire to become a Priest. I am 25 years old. I have a very long testimony (inside crazy Pentecostal/Protestant groups, 2 years at a Calvinist/Baptist Bible college & all kinds of other heretical experiences) but I was baptized a Catholic, and God has opened my eyes to the One True Faith. I have always wanted to be a man of God and serve in full time ministry... But now I strongly feel a vocation to sharing in the Priesthood of Jesus Christ. I spend countless hours everyday studying the Faith and praying to the Lord to use me in His service. I understand the major crisis in the Church, and I cannot subject myself to ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ/heretical/blasphemous/COVID/Pachamama and whatever else. God removed me from the Bible College I was attending right before Covid, praise to the Holy Ghost, and I am completely opposed to all the evil going on.

I live in Canada and can't travel anywhere because I won't poison myself with abortion-tainted wickedness. I feel so burdened for souls everyday and for the Lord's love and glory. I really want to lay my life down for Him and for His sheep. I just don't know how yet. So I'm reaching out to you experts to help me! What must I do? Can I be a priest with the SSPX Resistance? I love Bp. Williamson and listen to his sermons all the time. I have experience in ministry and a lot of theological education already but I'm still learning and growing in everything Catholic.

Would love your help, thanks so much. I look forward to communicating with you all! In Christ our King, Matthew B.

Me again. I live in London, Ontario. During the on-going Covidian tyranny, Bishop Fabbro of the Novus Ordo of London signed a joint declaration with religious leaders from the demonic Hindu, Mormon, Buddhist, Jєωιѕн etc,. religions, making mention of a "Creator" with no mention of Jesus Christ our Lord or the Holy Ghost. He is obviously a Freemason. Lol. So that's what I'm up against here. He also ordered all clergy, diocesan staff and basically anyone else related to get double or even triple clot-shotted. Unbelievable Satanism!:jester: God bless all.

The only seminaries associated with b. Williamson:
- the Phillipines, run by Fr. Chazal
- France run by b. Faure (or b. Thomas Aquinas, I have forgotten)

The only other "resistance" one is a joke, in Kentucky, run by "b"/fr. Pfeiffer.  Please avoid this one at ALL cost.

The only other ways that I know of are:
- sedevecanti under b. Sanborn in Florida
- independent sedevecanti bishop (not too many left as many died in the last two years)
- SSPX

Good luck to you, son, as you attempt to discern your vocation in life.  God bless you.

Technically, one does not simply "become" a priest.  God and the Church call you to the priesthood.

But people here have listed the viable options.

CMRI, +Sanborn (sedevacantists)
France, Philippines (Resistance)
SSPX (USA and several other places)

I'm not a fan of using St. John Vianney as an example of "you don't have to be all that smart".  About 10% of today's Trad priests could have passed the rigorous seminary training he had to undergo.  Above-average intellectual capacity is definitely a must.

And the need for strong intellect is all the more important these days than perhaps in pre-Vatican II times.  This requirement is out of charity ... for the priests and the souls who will be guided by him.  If he doesn't have a very strong grasp of moral and dogmatic theology, he would be responsible for any harm he does.

I object very much to this idea of that you just have to be "pious" or "devout" in order to be a good priest, especially when sometimes piety masks the fact that the spirituality at the level of the intellect and the will don't run very deep.  Pull the plug on the emotional inclinations and what's left is what contributes to the makeup of a priest.

I disagree.
All he needs is Faith.  God will provide the rest.

I agree with Ladislaus. I've seen examples of those not completing seminary due to what I call as "spiritual immaturity" hiding under the cloak of piety. Of course I don't discount the fact that some of these problems are not unmasked until much later perhaps even after ordination.  It's one of the main reasons why you can have 25-30 entering seminary every year but after about 6-7 years only 4-5 gets ordained each year.

What YOU think is irrelevant.  Holy Church has made it unmistakably clear that a man needs a great deal more.  If God did not provide the necessary natural equipment by the normal means, He has demonstrated His will in the matter.

Well, that might accout for some of it, but there's also some rather un-Catholic politics at work in the SSPX.  If they find that a seminarian is capable of independent thought and does not necessarily buy the latest SSPX position, they'll find a way to work you out of the seminary.  That seminarian is guilty of pride, you see.

If someone stayed away from others such as a monk or hermit, I think they could be a good priest without being all that smart. Joseph of Copertino.

Spiritual maturity and intelligence are two different things.

Do much research on vocations and discerning them. You don't have to be a priest to serve our Lord, but it is definitely worth seeking, but not to be rushed into. You might find a priory of the SSPX or similar traditional group to live at to assist them all you can while you study the faith and consider vocations.

The Church, by ordaining men who "needs a great deal more" disagrees with you.

I don't want to extinguish your zeal, ECC, but it seems in sore need of being tempered.
Experience teaches that one ought to be very wary of people who have a strong thirst to be the leader; many want the glory but very few can be trusted with the responsibility. Is there a graver responsibility than being charged with the care of souls? Having bounced around several protestant sects then become Catholic and immediately seeking to be a Priest tells me that you have plenty of maturing to do. Do not stride carelessly where Angels fear to tread.

My advice is to seek out a good trad Priest that can get to know you, provide valid Sacraments, give you advice on books and devotions, and help you to truly discern what God's will for you is.

I'm very glad that you are Catholic, ECC, it is the true Faith. What I have written above is not meant to impugn your motives or to discourage you, but rather to give you a needed reality-check. At some point the "honeymoon" will be over and you don't want to then find out that there is something lacking to your foundation.

Ok, I understand the arguments here. However, what of the men who were ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖs and were ordained to the priesthood? It is against the very sacrament, nature, and the virtue of purity. There is no way it was His Will these men reach ordination. I was talking to someone about this issue in the Church recently, I asked “How do these men get into the seminaries?” The reply was, “Perhaps they go in looking good.”

Our Lord called Judas too ... personally.  God calls, and we don't know what His reasons are.

No, they were recruited and brought in by modernists and communists who ran those "seminaries".

If you want to offer your sacrifices better then come here to the Philippines seminary run by Fr.Chazal .. you will experience the hardships of living as a poor seminarian, and the big mission that awaits you if you become a priest.  We need a priest here for our mission centers that our Priest cannot afford to go to every Sunday.
