  • There is an interesting thread over at IA asking this question.

Would be interesting to hear how many of the interesting CI personalities came to their present positions.

    Do tell!

  • I read my way into Tradition. POPE JOHN PAUL II's THEOLOGICAL JOURNEY to the PRAYER MEETING OF RELIGIONS IN ASSISI series by Fr. Johannes Dormann were the books which finally caused me to "cross the threshold" of my local SSPX Chapel.

(Don't you think +Fellay and his crowd would profit tremendously from reading Fr. Dormann's books?)

  •  I was brought to an sspx chapel by a friend,  and although i had been brought up with the true Mass, i was'nt that 'moved' by it.... at the end i saw some children genuflecting, as they went to light candles.... i was stopped in my tracks, i looked back at the altar, and realised what was lacking in my novus ordo parish.... belief in the Real Presense...   i never returned to the novus ordo... by the Grace of God....

  • I was born, and then my parents brought me to their independent chapel to have me baptized.

I'll admit that my story isn't too common for someone my age (mid 30's).

Maybe later on I can tell of my "conversion story" to a more serious practice of my Faith, since that's obviously what is being sought here.

  • I was told by a friend to read THE DEVILS FINAL BATTLE.  That woke me up.  Wanting to know more I found the interview tapes that Bernard Janssen did with Bishop Williamson.  Once I heard them I left the NO.

  • I was allowed to read federal grants.  Object?  To find out who the enemy was to bring sex education into AZ.  I found out the organization was the New Order so-called catholic dioceses.  I found out that it was of no religion just taking money and doing the agenda of the Federal gov't.  I went to a traditional church to show them what I found out, that the dioceses even pays into abortion.  The priest said, we know that.  And the victims of the ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ priest come to me for consoling.  We know who the enemy is.  The priest told me that my family needed to be traditional and we have since 1996.

  • Twenty years ago, I was praying the St. Bridget Prayers with a friend when she told me where she was attending Mass.  When she mentioned the name Archbishop Lefebvre, I recalled having heard about him 20 years prior when I was a teenager.  Even at that time, I couldn't understand why they would suspend him, and wished that I could attend the old Mass, but had no idea that the SSPX was only 30 miles away.  At any rate, I started reading....  :reading: :reading: :reading:

  • I'm a cradle Catholic.

I fell away from my Faith, but came back through a devout Novus Odo parish.
They had the indult Mass and honored the 6 monthly apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima with a Mass and Rosary procession.

At this parish, I fell into in with a conservative group that passed around Father Malachi Martin's interviews.  From this information, I began to realize the crisis in the Church.  Also, while attending the indult TLMs at this parish, I began to appreciate the Tridentine liturgy.

Eventually, our Bishop persecuted our parish and cancelled the indult Mass. From there I ended up in an SSPX chapel.

At the SSPX, everything seemed to be fine until 2009.

     :faint:
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

I too was praying the St. Bridget prayers when I learned of Tradition. Then I came upon a copy of Fr. Amorth's book, which told of V2 removing the exorcism at baptism, taking the exorcism prayer from the holy water, changing the rite of exorcism, ect. ; that made me start wondering about returning to Church at all. While I was looking for information about why they would do such a thing, I discovered this group who still did those things in the old way- the SSPX, and then that there was one in my own area. Seemed kind of like a sign.

    St. Bridget, pray for us.

  • I am to the TLM from the Novus Ordo. I had enough of the Novus Ordo after learning about the True Mass and faith following "The Passion of The Christ." My old church had a Novus Ordo in Latin for Christmas which was like a read along   and after the Society built the chapel, they have my former pastor drive 30 minutes away to a parish a few blocks near the SSPX chapel to offer "the indult Mass." During my last Novus Ordo Mass I had the pleasure of hearing a priest belonging to The Fathers of Mercy compare his looks to Pee Wee Herman during the sermon.

Going back a step, how did your parents find or know about the independent chapel?
