I agree with MyrnaM. It's been my understanding and having taught my last two children in homeschooling, using traditional catholic books, that protestants can receive actual graces ( to do good ). The Church teaches that sanctifying grace is only found in the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. As for as a baby born to protestants-which is a sect- the baby is a Catholic, until age of reason and taught to believe protestant heresy.

Yes.

To deny that which you affirm regarding the operation of actual grace outside the Church is to unwittingly fall into implicit Pelagianism, insofar as it would necessarily imply that the first movement toward the true Church was simply an act of human will, rather than an impulse of grace that excited the will.

Regarding sanctifying grace, yes, it exists only in the Church.

However, heretics who have perfect contrition for their sins; who commit perfect acts of charity; who die before the age of reason; these are all by that very fact part of the Catholic Church, since these are all justified, and Trent declared all the justified are saved.

Seraphim,
There seems to be so much misunderstanding about the Council of Trent. The Council taught that man is in the state of original sin, because of Adam and Eve. He must be baptised with water and then he is in a state of justification, which is different from salvation. Man must continue in the faith and die in a state of sanctifying grace to be saved. The Council also taught, in the case of say a Catechumen or a person who makes a "votum"-the latin for vow-not some silly desire, that  he must receive water baptism to be in the state of justification. If he dies on the way to Church, we are not to play God-a liberal God or a God of hate, because we do not know if he remained in a state of grace. Only God knows.
St. Thomas Aquinas, also numerous popes and councils taught you must have the Catholic faith, certain elements such as God sent His Son on earth to die for our sins, Three Persons in One God, etc. to go to heaven. So when Father Young, told the congregation, that all persons of sincerety get a ticket to heaven (no mention of purgatory) I was scandalized. Father Michael Mueller (Redemptorist) and Bishop Hay (Scotland) have written extensively on this matter and answer all the questions. Remember God wants everyone to be saved and He gives His grace to everyone on this earth. Read the writings of these great men to learn more! God bless

I have been through my Feenyite phase and survived it.

I have been haunted by sedevacantism, and survived that trap too.

Both very similar mind snares.

I will only say this, and then drop it regardless of how you respond, since I don't have the next 6 months to run around in circles with you:

Rhetorical question:

I can pull up at least 2,000 books stating that all the justified are saved.  Can you pull up one that says they aren't?

Well stated, Seraphim. But I have no desire to see another BOD-controversy thread. So let's leave it at that, lest certain persons get involved here.
