  • Certainly. While I do not think the Recusant would be flat out lying about this, it's definitely a possibility that those with them took advantage of Fr Onuorah in some way..manipulating his view of the Resistance, +Williamson, etc. AFAIK the few Resistance priests in Nigeria are more or less on their own, it might not be easy for them to get an honest picture of the current state of Tradition,..especially when faced with a some sort of organized anti-"fake resistance" crusade by the "true" resistance

I agree. I do not think the Recusant would simply invent something like this completely, but at the same time it wouldn't be out of character for them to overstate or frame the situation more decisively than the facts really are.

From Fr Onuorah's own letter what is clear is his disagreement with some of +Williamson's positions but what is less clear is whether this amounts to any sort of realignment or joining with the "true" resistance - especially compared to what the headline claims.

Both are plausible so what we need is some clarity all around

  • PV, do you know the status of Fr. Chigbata now that Fr. Onuorah has apparently renounced the "Fake Resistance" and +Williamson?
Let's not go creating strife where none exists.

There is nothing whatsoever in that letter from Fr Onuorah that changes his allegiance to anyone or anything.

He simply states an opinion that most priests and faithful of the Resistance shared at the time Bishop Williamson made those unfortunate comments, and which he subsequently admitted where mistaken.

See my post on the other thread: https://www.cathinfo.com/sspx-resistance-news/fr-joseph-onuorah-joins-the-resistance!/msg1013872/?topicseen#msg1013872

Not in the letter, no. I think it is great, and I agree with it. But the Recusant's commentary is concerning:

    Quote
Here is some joyous news for which to thank God. Shortly before Christmas a priest left the Fake Resistance to be a part of the real thing [...]Since becoming aware of Bp. Williamson’s teachings and their contradiction of all things Traditional, he has taken the brave and selfless step of volunteering to join Fr. Hewko, Fr. Ruiz,Fr. Rafael, Fr. Vargas, Fr. Srtenovic, you and I and all the others here in “outer darkness” -where the “respectable” and the self-interested fear to tread!

Is there any truth in this, that Fr. has "[volunteered] to join Fr. Hewko" and has "left the Fake [sic] Resistance"?

  • The "cause" grows as the months pass...buy this land, only $15K more (right), pay for this wall, on and on and on...and one appeal is followed by another, and another, etc.  Throw your money wherever you want, but any sensible man would have already realized that such an investment, especially in 2025, is unwise and it'd be better to use whatever limited resources you have for something else.  Maybe I am a curmudgeon, but these endless appeals at this moment in time seem out of touch with the fiscal reality of the world and anything sensible.

"...dwelling of heaven, just as, when we have triumphed and find ourselves in these beautiful churches, one can say like King Clovis did; he said on Christmas Day: 'Ah, it's magnificent! I have already arrived in Paradise!' Clovis, he was straightforward, (...), he did not hide his emotions, so when he with his Franks were in the Church of Saint Remi, he frankly felt like he was in Paradise.

And that's why we build the churches -  will continue to build until the end of the world, even if tomorrow morning is the end of the world, tonight I will continue to build a beautiful church, to buy beautiful priestly ornaments, a beautiful chalice, and all that, even if tomorrow morning is the end of the world. Since the idea is what our Lord does with Zachaeus, that is: He settles in his house— He comes to settle in the house of a poor sinner, to save him.

And if, if the good Lord deigns to come to us like that, then it is up to us to take care of Him as much as we can and to share our goods, to spend our resources, to expend our efforts so that the good Lord is well established,..."

We can't fathom the glories of Heaven, as St Paul wrote, but we can desire them; whatever we do we should do for the glory of God, and Ste Thérèse adds: "Do everything with love." God is not a mathematician - He gives back 100X.

    Holy Christmastide friends. PAX+

Thank you WA and LE, I didn't see that.

Mr Taylor really is a trouble maker isn't he? Indeed, he as much as admits that he is leading Fr Onuorah into darkness. At least he has some insight into his evil behaviour.

No doubt Father is in good faith and doesn't know anything of the history here.

I'll talk to him and let you know his response. I really don't think you are going to see him sever his ties with the bishops of the Resistance to join a band of trouble makers with no future.

    Here is Fr Onuorah's response:

About what the Taylor wrote, I am shocked to the bone marrow to hear this news. I have never communicated with Fr Hewko,  Fr Ruiz, Fr Vargas since I was born till today.  I do not have their contacts even. I do not have their emails or phone numbers. How can he write such a thing about me?

Does it mean they are also in Cathinfo? ... Please there is nothing like that. This is so alarming indeed. Kyrie eléison.

Very good news, thank you again

I wonder what the story is then..did Taylor et al. present Fr. Onuorah with some questionable +Williamson quotes, Fr. understandably expresses some dismay,
/disagreement, and then the "True" Resistance spins that as Fr. "leaving" the Resistance?

  • Meanwhile, there are no politics in Nigeria, just good honest priests who have discovered Tradition and broken with the revolutionary Church of Vatican II to quietly pursue their vocation of glorifying God and saving souls just as their forefathers in the Faith have done.

They have recognised in Archbishop Lefebvre and his work the faithful continuation of the Church and have been retrained by one of his faithful sons in Fr Juan Carlos Ortiz, and conditionally re-ordained by Bishop Thomas Aquinas OSB and Bishop Morgan. They cooperate with the other faithful African priest of note, Fr Pierre Celestin Ndong who is based in Gabon.

Here is Fr Onuorah's latest communication from just a few hours ago:

Good day my dear brother... hope you are fine today. This is the level we are at the forming of the gallery decking with the planks/boards and bamboos. It is moving gradually. By the grace of God by next week they will start putting the rods on top of the decking. Thank you so much for your donations which have kept the work moving.
    God bless you.
    Fr Joseph Onuorah

Please help with your prayers and donations if you are able. Details on how to donate can be found earlier in this thread.

This is Father's message from only yesterday before we sent him some emergency funds:

Greetings in Our Lord Jesus Christ my dear brother... Hope you are fine today. We remain grateful for the December donation. I am very sorry for bothering you with this. With the donation you sent on 31st December, 2025 we continued the church building work for this year. From the N774,470 naira you sent, I bought 135 pieces of planks/ boards for the gallery decking at the cost of N393,900; I bought 100 pieces of bamboos for the gallery decking at the cost of N130,000; I bought 35 bags of cement at the cost of N367,30. The money has just got finished.  Already I bought about 78 lengths of rod on credit at the cost of N736,800. And there is no money left to pay the workers presently, and they are working every day. We will still need more planks/ boards,  and about 200 bags of cement to cast the decking and the beams of the gallery decking. I know that it is extremely difficult now. But having started this stage of work, I really do not know what to do. We may eventually stop work after this week until God provides.

  • Sounds like he only needs 20 people to donate $50 or 100/$10 to pay what's on credit and a week worth of labor.
