  • My "good news" is I will no longer be contributing on the threads regarding the crisis in the SSPX. They are very nuanced and at this stage each District has a Resistance Chapel. The irony for me is geographically, I am nowhere near it. I am open to accepting a lift.

Instead of telling folk to leave SSPX chapels, I will encourage people to attend Resistance Chapels.

It's a damned if you and damned if you don't scenario. I don't really intend to get worked up or allow the SSPX to effect my health.

  • Endless threads on the Church of Bishop Fellay is actually very boring. The resistance is necessary to support.

  • John,

This is an interesting topic and I've had to explain many times to others why Bishop Williamson and Fr. Pfeiffer et al still preach about the Society.  It's because the Titanic is sinking and they are trying to help people get into the lifeboats.

May I ask if you will be able to receive sacraments anywhere?

It's difficult to have one foot in each boat--my family is still doing this out of necessity.  We haven't reached the point of being home-aloners yet.  We know some who have.  What I mean is we haven't reached the point of ONLY attending Resistance Masses.  That will probably come soon though, once we have a more permanent location where we can meet for devotions on the non-Mass days.

I agree that talking about +Fellay is boring.  I don't even care anymore and I my only interest in a deal is that it will grow the Resistance.

I am happy to answer via PM though personally, I don't find the topic interesting at all. I have plenty of better things to be doing than involving myself in the nonsense of the Church of Bishop Fellay.

For 'El Krahgate' etc etc I was obviously meant to be the "fall guy".

I have gone totally out to sea regarding the SSPX.

  • John, don't run away before answering me. What is "fall guy"? And your last sentence: "I have gone totally out to sea regarding the SSPX". I am Spanish speaking. Thank you!

  • There is a disclaimer regarding posts on this forum. I assume like with any post a person makes their own enquiry.

At this stage in the nuanced discussions on the forum one will either support the Resistance, which follows the spirit of the Archbishop or this Church of Bishop Fellay.

As I said each District has a Resistance Chapel/Mass Centre.

Basically whilst I will pray for all SSPX priests and laity, I have abandoned the pious union which has abandoned Archbishop Lefebvre and whose fight has gone out of them.

  • Each "district" has a Resistance chapel?  By district is meant...what?  The U.S. has a District Superior, as does Canada, Asia.  So there is at least one Resistance Mass in each of these places?  What are the chances of everyone who would like to hear Mass and receive the Sacraments at these chapels doing so maybe once a year?  Like JohnGrace, the majority cannot do even that.  What IS happening so far as I see, is that souls are simply vanishing from the SSPX.  A very few are back at the n.o.  A few go now and then to the "motu," many have gone the way of the majority of Americans and are not going to church OR practicing their faith as "home-aloners."  Many of these came in the last five years or so, and have gone back to sleeping-in on Sunday morning, having become disillusioned with all the bickering and nonsense.  I've tracked down two such families who now want nothing to do with "church" or "organized religion." It's easy for the Resistance to blame the SSPX and the reverse.  What is to be done, lest these souls be lost?
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

As you have stated not everybody attending SSPX chapels is exclusively "Pius X" as people refer to them in Ireland. In Ireland you either have the Indult or SSPX. Some going to SSPX chapels attend both. Some perhaps during week attend Novus Ordo. The priests know the score and now there is no real difference between SSPX and the FSSP.

  • And a point I wish to add but can't edit post is Catholics attend the SSPX to avail of valid sacraments and attend valid Mass. The people are not members unless they become Third Order and under obedience to Bishop Fellay. Catholics come and go from SSPX chapels, and the Society has lost priests and laity for variety of reasons over the years.
