Bp. Fellay wants to go to the LEFT, towards Conciliar Rome, making compromises in order to get more "people" to fill the pews and hear the preaching of the SSPX priests, which will cause a new renaissance in Tradition. He also wants to take the whole SSPX and Archbishop Lefebvre's legacy with him.

Fr. Pfeiffer, Fr. Cardozo, etc. want to go to the RIGHT, towards sedevacantism and denial of the Conciliar Church being the Catholic Church at all, where the people play Catecombs in their various compounds, playing "Japanese Catholics" and awaiting the end. This black & white, simplistic, emotional position will foster a new renaissance in Tradition. He also wants to take the whole SSPX and Archbishop Lefebvre's legacy with him.

Bishop Williamson wants to keep to the straight and narrow path, defending the Faith as he received it, holding to the safest and most true position in the Crisis in the Church, neither declining to the RIGHT or to the LEFT. He is the one who can claim to be the successor to Archbishop Lefebvre. Not only is he the spiritual successor, but he was the first bishop actually selected by +ABL for episcopal consecration. He was literally chosen as a successor!

Incidentally, someone asked yesterday, "Have there been any miracles attributed to Archbishop Lefebvre?" and others asked, "Why make such a big deal out of Archbishop Lefebvre?"

Well, it's just that God visibly blessed the Archbishop's work -- the SSPX -- with tremendous fruits. The SSPX tree bore tremendous fruits of holiness and growth. Why is the SSPX the largest Trad group? It wasn't by compromising or pandering to the Modern World. It's because holiness, sanity, and the CATHOLIC SPIRIT were found there. People heard and recognized the voice of the Shepherd.

I always defended the SSPX back before their fall, and for good reason. They engaged in countless constructive works to convert souls and help preserve the Faith. Besides Mass and the Sacraments, they added seminaries, Ignatian Retreats, processions, parish groups (altar society, Eucharistic crusade, Legion of Mary, etc.), books, teaching about Catholic culture, magazines, catechism, reaching out to religious orders, etc. They were friendly to anyone helping to preserve tradition, SSPX member or not.

There's a reason the current SSPX downfall is a tragedy. If they weren't something good before, no one would care today!
