REMNANT COMMENT : So, do you think this is a particularly good time for the SSPX to get “regularized” -- under a Pope who is “worried” about the “rigidity” (read: orthodoxy) of traditional Catholics' priestly formation?

Have you noticed something odd about all this? The Trad-leaning neo-Catholics have become the most outspoken proponents of SSPX regularization. Now why do you suppose that would be?  I confess to a certain bewilderment at their adamant claim that the SSPX will absolutely positively be in a position to fight much harder for Tradition and against the ʀɛʋօʟutιօn, once regularized by Pope Francis.

    Really? Well, let's hope so.

"Besides," our trad-leaning neo-Catholics argue, "the SSPX can always go back to where they were, should the Vatican stab them in the back as it has stabbed the FFI and now the Knights of Malta."   But is that how it actually works in the real world?

When a Society of 600+ priests gets regularized—only to discover that some pretty hefty strings were attached, after all—do they really get to go waltzing merrily back to where they came from, as if the Church weren't hierarchical at all?  No harm no foul?   Surely, some SSPX priests would do just that but, let's be honest, many would not, preferring instead to stay on and work from a less confrontational position. This is just human nature.

Isn't this precisely what happened back in 1988, by the way: some SSPX priests took the Vatican's deal, some didn't. And the two factions have been at loggerheads ever since. Well played, Vatican!

If things go similarly awry this time around, as critics of “regularization” argue they might, then hindsight will make it much easier for us all to see that the Vatican's intention all along was merely to divide and conquer its opposition. But, of course, by then this would be a moot point.

So, the SSPX is going to get up its high horse and really oppose Francis...right after he regularizes them? Really? That's what regularization does?  Is that why we have all those thousands of regularized traditionalist priests out there right now, thundering  away against the Francis ʀɛʋօʟutιօn where Communion for public adulterers is concerned---because once a priest is regularized it gets so much easier for him to oppose the folks that just regularized him?

    Again, really?!

Archbishop Lefebvre didn't end up in "schism" because he was a bad boy who did something wrong. He ended up in "schism" by choice, because he refused to go along with the great apostasy being spearheaded by the Modernist ʀɛʋօʟutιօn in the Church, including all the way to the top of the Vatican.  That was many years ago.

Question: Have things somehow improved in the Vatican since then?

Is it time for the largest resistance movement of priests in the world today to come down out of mountains and sign on Pope Francis's dotted line? Perhaps. But perhaps not. And anyone who tells you he knows God’s inscrutable will on this, one way or the other, is either lying or delusional. Nobody knows, which is why Bishop Fellay has been so wise to wait and hold the holy ground of Tradition for which Archbishop Lefebvre fought and died.

The only thing we can do now is pray: Come Holy Ghost fill the hearts of Thy faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Thy divine love. Send forth Thy spirit and they shall be created and Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray. O God, Who by the light of the Holy Ghost didst instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by that same Holy Spirit, we may be truly wise, and ever to rejoice in Thy consolation. Through Christ our Lord.

    Amen.

  • Well that said a lot without saying anything at all.

Typical Remnant...always refusing to admit that +Fellay has given up the fight started by the Archbishop.  He has already sold out Tradition years ago. He just hasn't signed the dotted line yet.

He has changed the formation of SSPX priests from "Warriors, ready to fight and die for the faith" to "Gentlemen, who dialogue about the faith until they have talked themselves to complacency ".

The Remnant and Mr. Matt has also been lulled to complacency.

Oh, its just the "Alex Jones of the catacombs", talking out of both sides of his mouth.

  • Bishop Fellay "wise"? If someone is delusional is Mr. Matt.
When ABL backed off it was bad enough. +Fellay keeps listening to the serpent even after it has manifested itself as the "destroyer" of religious Orders and an enemy of the Church. What madness! From Mr. Matt and + Fellay.

  • And where are all these young men demanding a rigid traditional Catholic priestly formation? The Newchurch of the future whether conservative or liberal will only have room for the type of clergyman that will make one want to puke. Admittedly, there will be some that like to parade in fine vestments and in some way imitate the past but Catholic warriors they will not be. They will all be conciliar priests under the eye of conciliar bishops and in union with conciliar popes. Skirting around this reality has been a worthless preoccupation of traditionalists for decades. As they grow old, their resolve weakens and they finally submit to the beast.

  • 90% of the article points out the dangers of negotiating with rome and then it asks the question:
    Quote

    How idiotic.

  • Yes, it looks like the final conciliarist push will be to get all the trad orders under their big circus tent.
The schismatic structure of Vatican II can accommodate any color of compromiser.

And then you have the trad press, who keep them in line and function as the "watchdogs of the ʀɛʋօʟutιօn".

  • The Remnant has studiously avoided reporting on the split in the SSPX in 2012 as if it didn't even happen.

The Remnant has also studiously avoided reporting on the worst scandals to come out of the Vatican, including the gαy prostitution scandal that reached all the way to Benedict's quarters.

They do this because they are weak and fear they would lose subscriptions if they reported on the real stories.

  • Actually, I get tired of having to keep saying this about these neo-Trads, of whatever stripe:

They refuse - absolutely refuse to do the right thing, and say that these people in Occupied Rome are NOT Catholic.

I'll say it again:  The modernists in the Conciliar church are NOT Catholic.

The neo-Trads agonize, first one way and then another, how to re-animate the dead rotting corpse of this Conciliar church.

The neo-Trads will always fail, because they cannot (or will not) recognize these folks as non-Catholics, and take appropriate action.  Operation Survival.

God-willing, there were be a divine intervention of some sort to restore the Church.  It will no doubt surprise us all.  Hopefully, the neo-Trads have enough good will and grace to correspond with it, and hopefully we will too.  But to treat Francis et al, who seem to hate all that is Catholic, and love all that is anti-Catholic, as fellow Faithful, is insanity that seems beyond all human comprehension.

It used to be fairly simple:  No deal until Rome returns to the Faith.

Actually, it still is that simple.

  • Michael Matt, Remnant Underground video

Towards the very end, at 21:56
"As I see it, every layman, every priest, every bishop and every cardinal who has kept the faith must stand up right now in total opposition to the people who have taken control of our church, from the Vatican all the way down. It is simply not Catholic anymore."

  • Jovita. Nice ending but as a person who taughts himself as a Traditional Catholic journalist he is obligated, in my humble opinion, to point out those who have specifically changed their course.  He has been quiet when the largest and strongest "Catholic Ship" the SSPX drastically changed course.  He has never addressed the drastic omissions against modernism made by the ships Captain +Fellay when compared to the previous Captain + Lebfevre.

On its face, this statement sounds good but it is cowardice at its core.  It is akin to the Pope consecrating the world to the Immaculate Heart because he does not have the courage to consecrate Russia.  Mr. Matt makes this blanket statement but never demands that those who have changed course return to the true path of Tradition.

  • Where was Mr. Matt when over a 100 priests were being thrown out or quitting the largest Traditional Order of Catholic priests?  He didn't even cover this story from a neutral position.  For instance, interviewing both +Williamson and + Fellay presenting a balanced report.  How about when two Catholic Bishops were legitimately Consecrated to join the fight against this crisis in the faith...once again...crickets...

At every turn, when it was time to hunker down and join those who were standing firm against modernist Rome, he was quiet.
