  • Here's an older video of a sermon by Fr. Girouard, on the subject of the importance of sacrifice, from 2012 or 2013, not long after his dismissal from the SSPX, for openly disagreeing with the new orientation of the SSPX.

Here are a few excepts from the last part of the video. He is of course speaking to his flock at his chapel (after having endured the trial of having to separate from the SSPX), but I think it can pertain to the greater Resistance as well:

"We read in the Gospel of today that the gates of hell will not prevail. He did not say that the gates of hell will not try to prevail, or will not seem to prevail, but he said they will not prevail. But in the meantime, they will attack and be so powerful that they seem to be prevailing, but will not prevail at the end.

The first Christians were the same kind of human beings that we are. The reaction of that little girl shows it. It was a very human reaction, and yes for them too it was tiring to be praying; it was tiring to be fasting; it was tiring to be persecuted, but they did it and they accepted the Cross, and God helped them. This is our mission as a little group to imitate their fervor, and to do all the sacrifices we can in terms of our daily life, our fidelity to the commands of God, our striving for modesty in dress and modesty in behavior, and humility, the practice of meekness, the imitation of Our Lord, the readings of the life of the saints, the readings of the Bible, of the catechism.

Yes, we have to sacrifice by making, maybe, if we read this book, if we do these good prayers, we have less time for recreation. I agree. It's true it's a sacrifice. But that's what I mean. We need to do these sacrifices. Because God, it is His will that He will use what we in philosophy call secondary causes. Yes, God could make a miracle today, God could change the hearts of everybody, but that's not the way He wants to operate.

He wants to operate through us, and that is why if we want to be true Resistance against the shenanigans of the Society, because the Society is now abandoning her role, the Society now, under the illusion of trying to change the Church from the inside, the conciliar church from the inside, the new Society, that's what they want. They should, instead, remain like they did, like we used to be. A power, or a little power, a little lighthouse that will stand on a rock, the rock of true doctrine, the rock of the true sacraments, and that will guide the ships. It is no use to be a lighthouse if you are inside the ship. That's our way to hell, the modern church […] It's not for us to go to them and adapt to them.

And so prayer, sacrifices and being steadfast on the rock of truth and the true sacraments, this is our program as the Resistance, and we must do more than we used to do. If we only want to do what we were doing at Christ the King (chapel), that is not enough."

The Bread and Water Fast was not for the election of the General Superior, which DICI had announced days ago would be on the 11th, and that of the two Assistants on the 12th. It was to obtain light and strength to all members of the Chapter, which ends on July 21st, so they can correct the mistakes made since the 2012 Chapter.

The highest authority in the SSPX is not the General Council, formed of the General Superior and his two General Assistants, but it is rather the General Chapter. The Chapter makes the laws and gives the orientations to the Society. The General Council is there to apply these laws and orientations in the day-to-day life of the Society. The General Council has to give an account of this work to the General Chapter every six years (if you take into account the Administrative Chapter, like the one in 2012). If necessary, to answer a particular grave question, an Extraordinary General Chapter can also be convened at any time to study and decide the course of action regarding that particular question.

  • Received today from Fr. Girouard: More reasons to join in the Bread and Water Fast:

Well, not only has the Chapter chosen a liberal as General Superior (Fr. Pagliarani, who is the one who saved Bishop Fellay from criticism at the 2012 Chapter), but they also chose two arch-liberals as his Assistants: 1-Bishop Galaretta, who in his October 2012 conference at Villepreux defended the 2012 Chapter, and went so far as to say that a 50% + 1 votes would be enough in a future Chapter to endorse an agreement with Rome; 2-Fr. Bouchacourt who, as District Superior of Argentina had Cardinal Bergoglio "recognize" the society in that country, and who, as District Superior of France has continually battled and hammered the Resistance.

Bishop Fellay has prepared the way since 1997, and this new set of Superiors seems to have been chosen to implement a soon-to-be announced "recognition" by Rome.

The Chapter ends up one day before the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and maybe a recognition would be declared, on that day, to be an answer to the Last Rosary Crusade.

One more reason to pray and sacrifice, and to participate in the July 13th day of fast on Bread and Water.

    God bless,

    Fr. Girouard

Thanks for posting this communication from Fr. Girouard.

It's interesting that back in 2012, that Fr. Bouchacourt said that 50% + 1 vote would be enough in a future chapter to endorse an agreement with Rome. Let's hope that they don't put the matter to a vote at the current Chapter, but Fr. Girouard seems to think that there's a good chance that that will happen, as an answer to the 'Rosary crusade,' and that Bp. Fellay has paved the way since 1997.

It's sad to think of Bp. Galaretta as an arch-liberal. My, how things have changed in the SSPX.

    The fast is tomorrow.

A few of us in India - SSPX,  Marian-Corps,  and Independent  -are fasting as per the intention of Fr Girouard. It's now nearly Noon , Indian Standard Time, on Friday 13th July.
