From an email of Fr. Girouard sent today to his parishioners of Aldergrove and Post Falls:

Dear parishioners,

ABOUT THE GENERAL CHAPTER OF THE SSPX:

It starts July 11 and ends July 21. We have preached, prayed, sacrificed for the the return of the Society to the right orientation since the disaster of the 2012 Chapter. Now is the time to intensify our sacrifices and prayers. This Friday, it will be July 13th, the anniversary of a great apparition at Fatima, where Our Lady taught us the prayer for offering our sacrifices. There was also the vision of hell, the warning about the chastisements, and the errors of Russia, and the announcement that God will ask for the Consecration of Russia. I suggest that, to the usual Abstinence of Friday, we add Fasting. I also invite you to make your fast a "Bread and Water" fast (just plain bread and water. No butter, tea, etc.). Fr. Lacouture, a Jesuit of the early 20th century, has obtained many miracles by asking people in need to do such fasts.

II THINK THAT EXTREME DISTRESS CALLS FOR EXTREME MEASURES. I WILL DO THE BREAD AND WATER FAST THIS FRIDAY. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO IT ALSO. IF YOU CANNOT DO IT ON FRIDAY, PLEASE DO IT ON ANOTHER DAY DURING THE CHAPTER. IF YOU CANNOT DO THE B&W FAST, DO THE NORMAL FAST. ANYTHING WILL HELP. I PROMISE YOU THAT THIS B&W FAST WILL NOT KILL YOU. IF IT DOES, I WILL PUBLICLY APOLOGIZE TO YOU.

Thank you and God bless,

Fr. Girouard

  • Even though I think the sspx leadership has used/abused the Fatima message in their quest to sell out the sspx and destroy tradition, just like they "spun the yarn" that the Rosary crusades obtained the "miraculous" motu proprio (which, we can now see was a further attack by new-rome, since it has eroded traditionalism by siphoning off the millenial generation from the sspx into the indult...the old "divide and conquer" method), I'll go along with the fast.  God can use these graces for something else, if the sspx chooses to discard them.

  • This is an excellent call to Catholic action.

  • May God bless Fr Girourd and May He make our efforts effective and obtain the conversion of the Society.

That is precisely why it should be done.

  • Don't be surprised if Fr comes out after the Chapter meeting and says that the new liberal-leaning leader of the sspx is "an answer" to all our prayers.  The problem is that most of the people who are left in the sspx (the ones who are staunchly pro-Lefevbre have already left or were kicked out) are probably praying FOR a deal with rome.  So when the sspx elects a new, liberal leader, who will lead the triumphant sspx into the new-rome's lion den, this will be an answer to their prayers!  Oh, the irony.

I'll still take part in the fast, in case God decides to intervene.  If He does not, the sspx is already sunk.

  • Absolutely. But Our Lady will not be mocked. The fast is worth the try for the good of the Church but man proposes and God disposes. The sacrifices and prayers may be answered in ways we never thought possible. Perhaps massive defections...Humanly speaking, is hopeless.

I got a chuckle out of the last two sentences. I so appreciate Fr. Girouard's sense of humor. So glad to see a communication and recommendation from him on the subject of the General Chapter.

I'll do the fast. I hope that more trads will do the same. Many trads see the situation in the SSPX as being hopeless, but we still have recourse to a supernatural solution by appealing to God for help, though a little bit of sacrifice.
"It is licit to resist a Sovereign Pontiff who is trying to destroy the Church. I say it is licit to resist him in not following his orders and in preventing the execution of his will. It is not licit to Judge him, to punish him, or to depose him, for these are acts proper to a superior."

If in fact that is what happens and let say Fr. Pfluger is elected then I say that it will be a win in some way because the obvious direction towards a personal prelature will be swift and maybe more will wake up.  Sounds cynical but the SSPX is done. I will also join the fast because no prayer or sacrifice is wasted.

We do not know the ways of God ... perhaps that will be His answer. Time will tell.

  • Prayer & Fasting for one day... to engage the demonic forces bent on destroying Catholic tradition... you say?

    Then, let's mount-up Ladies & Gentlemen...

And ride to the sounds of the guns!

Reading Pax Vobis comment we understand that he/she is not really knowing Fr. Girouard. Here is an excerpt from the Mission Statement he composed to explain the goals of his Resistance parish, on their first Mass, on June 2, 2013:
"And when can we go back and trust the SSPX again? The answer is pretty much the same as the above: When Bishop Fellay, the other members of the 2012 Chapter, and all the priests of the Society who have promoted the new line will be demoted and barred from any future office; when the texts of the Chapter will be officially and legally condemned; when H.E. Bishop Williamson and the faithful priests will be vindicated by the new management; when a book on the history of this crisis will be published and read yearly in our communities; when a new General Chapter will condemn in the most strong manner the New Mass and Vatican II, and will forbid any contact with conciliar authorities, until Rome has cleaned its mess."

You can find the full text here: https://thebastion.faith/our-mission-statement/

I hope this will dispell any fear that Father would present a new liberal Genaral Superior an an answer to our prayers and sacrifices.

Yes, I don't know anything about him.  Sorry for my blind cynicism.  I hope he's anti new-rome and pro tradition.  Let's hope our fast is worthy to show good results.
