And what with the general atmosphere on the forum at the moment, he decided to heed Fr de Cacqueray's advice, and close the forum until Pentecost.

Clare, may I beseech you to ask Patricius to reconsider
For this is the precise moment in history when open lines of communication are desperately needed more than ever, and a read of the laity's reaction to all this by those in power, may well mitigate, or at least stall, the damage thay do. Perhaps just a little, but a little good is better than none. You nor he need worry about culpability for sour or abrasive commentary, after all, we're on the battlefield right now. Noone really expected to find the others discussing their flowerbeds.

Is it a coincidence that two SSPX-friendly sites are now down at this time? I notice Rorate Caeli is still running .........

Rorate Caeli is still running because they edit the comments and only publish the pro Bishop Fellay comments. I know they have never published my husband's comments.

    Just to clarify:

    No one has threatened IA.

    Patricius supports all four bishops.

And what with the general atmosphere on the forum at the moment, he decided to heed Fr de Cacqueray's advice, and close the forum until Pentecost.

Actually Clare this subservience to Menzingen will only hurt IA in the end. Lay people will not be bamboozled by the Fellay crowd into a manifest betrayal of the Archbishop.
    Please pray for my soul.

    What's the other SSPX-friendly site that's down?
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • Clare,

I am disgusted that you would allow IA to do this. The whole thing is a farce. I second what someone else said about having Patricius reconsider.

My forum will not be buying into this ABSOLUTE HOAX either.

I suspect it deletes more than it publishes, thereby making it appear that there are few dissenters. I rarely can get a look in even when I tone down.

I just heard a rumor from a reliable source in Europe, that one of the three bishops is now joining B. Fellay. That to me explains this petition by the french District. The devil will not rest. I don't agree with the silence, we must speak and open eyes but we must pray every moment we can.

Not good. I hope that isn't true, but if it is, a deal would seem much more likely.

  • Rorate posted Fr. de Cacqueray's request, paid lip service to it, and proceeded to churn out the party line while remaining as sanctimonious as usual.

But of course they will - could we expect anything less out of rumors ?

  • Sure.

Shut down all sources of news and opinion on the deal except those that Bp. Fellay approves of.

    Cacqueray take a walkeray!

  • I wouldn't usually come here - infact, the past few times I came here for reasons of criticism. However, this request changes a few things.

The unofficial internet is the ONLY way to find out about the developments with Rome and the Society - the Society run websites are not publishing things which do not suit their views, such as the latest communique from the Vatican. To shut the internet down, during this crucial time, is to starve the faithful of the information which they require.

This is indeed a farcical and transparent request. I repeat the request of previous posters that Clare and Gregorio should ask Patricius to reconsider. We are English, for pity's sake! We do not have to obey a foreign district superior on such matters. Especially, it might be said, when the district superior (for all his good points, of which there are many) is recommending something which shall keep the faithful in the dark, while decisions are made in secret by +Fellay, his assistants, and the authorities in Rome.

Patricius, I now write to you directly, please re-consider this action. It is not good for the survival of Tradition that information should be withheld, and that you yourself should be accomplice to that. Your ill-advised action, however, shall not achieve the aim of stopping the talk, so long as boards such as CathInfo are willing to provide a home to reasoned discussion on the matters at hand, along with the presentation of new information.

My praise to you, Matthew, for not kow-towing to this. It is essential that such information as we have been lucky to receive have free diffusion across the web. To ask that entire forums shut themselves down in the name of 'piety' is but a joke, and absolute joke.

  • Clare, sorry if I sounded harsh when I said I was "disgusted". Fact is, however, that asking all Trad forums to close down is insane. IA shouldn't be doing this.

  • I saw some commenters on Rorate say that this letter and the general response to it is evidence that they are being vindicated according to the discernment of spirits.  Besides this being incredibly inaccurate -- chiefly due to the fact that Bishop Fellay is a liberal who employs Zionists and other liberals who publicly calumniate Bishop Williamson, invokes authority he does not have, and bullies and threatens those who keep to the old spirit of the Archbishop in order to protect the Faith and the SSPX from sitting at the same table as false religions -- it is also an opportunity for us.  Since none of us can really say that we could not pray more, I think we should certainly take this Feast of the Ascension (and Friday tomorrow) to increase our prayers and offer penance for the intention that the deal fails and, if that is impossible, that the greatest possible number will see it for what it is and will help those priests who split from the Society.  Besides it being a work of mercy to help the bishops and the faithful by winning graces for them, it will benefit our own souls.  It will also have the added benefit of silencing those liberal-traditionalists who presume that, because there are less public prayer requests than that of M. l'abbé de Cacqueray, that we who keep to and aim to defend the un-compromised and unreformed orthodox Faith do not have prayerful spirits.  Really, it is a win-win situation !  Please, pray with me and include me in your prayers, for the Truth to triumph, for Our Lord's Kingship to not be resisted, for the Sacred Heart to move the hearts of all those intriguers who plot against the Church (whether objectively or subjectively), and for those who seem to see only what they want to see.
