  • At a recent conference in Texas, Fr. Wegner said many things that SHOULD open people's eyes.

He said that we shouldn't be surprised if we wake up one day and find that Rome has regularized the SSPX.

Is there a transcript of the conference, or a video?

Video, not a chance. I haven't heard that it was recorded. Knowing the SSPX, I seriously doubt they'd let that happen.

As for a transcript, I'm working on that. I know that some notes/quotes were taken, but I don't have them at the moment.

Fr. Wegner ought to keep in mind that once the SSPX is "regularized," they'll have to face the prospect of getting along with other Catholic groups that are already on good terms with their local bishop, even if the SSPX can't stand being in the same room with them.

  • People have been talking about the big regularization event for years now.... who cares? It's time to get off of it and get back to living your catholic lives the best you can and to stop constantly yelling that the sky is falling.

Cathinfo is definitely a useful media but there are way too many conspiracy theorists and worry-warts on here that only want to spend their time trying to second guess what's going to happen tomorrow. Have you people ever heard of trusting in God and His Blessed Mother?

Has anyone ever read the book "Soul of the Apostolate" by Dom Jean-Baptiste Chautard?  This is one of the best books ever written and everyone on Cathinfo should read it or listen to the audio book at least 10 times, it's that chock full of wisdom...

The Soul of the Apostolate stresses "living in the present moment" and this is the key to every Catholic's concerns. When you live in the present moment, you only think about what am I doing at this very second, now this second, now this beat of my heart, now this beat.... every beat of the heart should be a prayer and there should be not a care in the world what will happen tomorrow because you know that God's Will shall be done and that as long as we are living each moment the way God wants us to, we have nothing to worry about.

The gospel also backs this up when it says not to worry about what you're going to say when they come to kill you in God's name because when the moment comes, the Holy Ghost will give you the words you need. This is the same with our day to day lives, let us not be pretentious but rather totally trusting in God that when the time comes, you will do the right thing with the help of the Holy Ghost.

  • Following along the lines of the surprise granting of ordinary jurisdiction in the new "Year of Mercy', a friend bet me (a steak dinner) that the SSPX will be the beneficiary of a 'surprise' regularization by the Feast of the Assumption (2016) - with no agreements or concessions signed by Bp. Fellay.  I took the bet because i love Rib Eye and don't think any such thing is possible.

If only all those militant canonized saints had had you around for a spiritual guide, how different the Church would be today - if She was still in existence.

Even Archbishop Lefebvre failed to follow your advice, which would have dictated abandoning any effort to save the Church and rather focus on his heartbeat.

Are you trying to say that the Church is no longer in existence?! Following Archbishop Lefebvre's example and advice, we do what lies within our power and most importantly we pray, the Mass, the Rosary, and as Lucia of Fatima said, our daily duty.

This forum and none like it will save the Church, the world and our own souls. Brother Love's point is a good one and The Soul of the Apostolate, Self-Abandonment to Divine Providence and the writings of The Little Flower stress this confidence we are fast losing.

No one is suggesting we focus on our own heartbeats. That is ridiculous. We offer each heartbeat as a prayer to God once in the morning and then forget it. That is a suggestion often recommended by the saints. Anything can be offered in that way, the breaths we take, anything.

Sorry, what I was trying to say was unclear.  I wasn't saying the Church is not in existence.  I was saying that if Catholics followed the above advice to live in the moment, forget about tomorrow, and focus on their own sanctity to the exclusion of the common good and the defense of the Catholic Church, then we could hardly expect the Church to have survived the many attacks that have been leveled against it.  A brief tour of Church history would prove that vigorous action, particularly on the part of the saints, was a necessary element to the successful defense of the church.

Great post! I feel the same way. I have heard so many negative things by the "resistance to what folks" about the SSPX. Yet I have never seen solid and reliable evidence that the SSPX is hell-bent on following errant Rome into Hell.

I have asked people for evidence, but none has been given. Anybody could make up anything about the SSPX and it might be believed even if it has no basis  in reality.

It might give them an opportunity to present what the Catholic Faith is all about.

If that were to happen it would prove my point that Pope Francis is a secret friend of Tradition.

It would literally prove the opposite. He calls Latin-Massers Pelagians, remember.
