  • I welcome this from 'padrepio'. Who are Anthony Benedict and Patricius making reference too?

I really appreciate the sense of humor on this site, and I like to give credit to the English for it. But, I don't see the humor in this. Are you accusing posters on another site of mental illness, are you accusing those with mental illnesses of not being able to post. Does this have something to do with the use of thorazine..

A number of conditions can be treated with Thorazine. Uses of this medication can include the treatment of schizophrenia, acute intermittent porphyria, and mania symptoms in people with bipolar disorder. The drug is approved for use in children for the treatment of behavior problems, nausea or vomiting, and restlessness or worry before surgery. "Off-label" Thorazine uses may include the treatment of migraines, agitation, dementia, or neonatal abstinence syndrome.

Mental illnesses have different causes. Sometimes it is family related, stress, a curse. This is a public forum and I don't think it is appropriate humor, or sarcasm.

    Quote from: Patricius
The same people who, having the warmest October 21st on record, believe they are at the start of the Great Chastisement, rather than grateful for the better weather. Fruitcakery at its finest.

In contrast, we in England are bloody freezing. Perhaps they're being chastised and we aint?

This seems to demonstrate complacency and intellectual laziness.

    Well said, Pere-Joseph.

But Patricius need not worry about England being spared from The Chastisement. Because most European Catholic visionaries who saw the Chastisement in the form of WW3 and the Three Dark Days (like good old Alois Irlmaier), do say basically the same about the important points, one being the question what will happen to England during The Chastisement:
They saw the Russians dropping a sort of atom-bomb into the English Channel at the beginning of WW3, which will flood England and the facing parts of continental Europe. (And they saw another bomb being dropped into the Mediterranean Sea which will flood Marseille amongst other areas.)

So, in case you're in England when WW3 starts: become a Highlander ASAP.

Maybe the potential expulsion of London based Bishop Williamson in many ways is a blessing in disguise?

P.S. I think the year 2013 is still a hot candidate for the mentioned visions.

Well, that's because you have eyes to see and ears to hear.

Vatican City, 19 October 2012 (VIS) - A relic of Blessed John Paul II will be transported to the French shrine of Lourdes during a pilgrimage organised by UNITALSI (Italian National Union for Transport of the Sick to Lourdes and International Shrines). The pilgrimage is to take place from 21 to 27 October.

    Quote
The Gave de Pau was three metres (10 feet) above its usual level Saturday (October 20) morning and still rising, as weather forecasters predicted that the rain that has been falling non-stop since Thursday (October 18)would continue until Sunday (October 21).

It looks like they were blocked by God from altogether exposing the relic for veneration, for now.

They could rent some paddle boats and have a nice floating exhibit instead?

"Torrents of mud" seems to say a lot.

I would say it's "icing on the cake," at least.

God doesn't do anything by coincidence. God obviously doesn't want this "relic" of a heretic exposed in Lourdes. Deo Gratias!! Of course, mankind will probably change the dates and somehow force the showing anyway. Making their demise even worse when God's time comes!

That's because you have eyes to see and ears to hear..............

    That says a lot, too!

Maybe a link here with Bp. W's chastisement theories ......

    True that!

Wonder is this news is posted on the likes of FE or CAF - it might interesting to hear what the NOers have to say about it.

Let me venture a guess:  'We had rain like this in the Phillipines a few years ago, what's the problem?' or, 'I heard they just had a healing mass asking for rain, so this is an answer to prayer!' or, 'Be careful what you ask for you might just get it!' or, 'We've known for years there's been a guy in the bottom of the boat punching holes in it -- what's the problem?' ........... wait.. I'm getting my sermons mixed up..........................

This is even on Angelqueen with a direct link to CI.

That's great.  But who needs AQ when there's CI?    .............   Hmmmm?

Do we really need a sign from Heaven to alert us to the fact that something is "off" about JPII?

If the signs and wonders worked here were worked in Sodom perhaps they would have remained to this day. Woe to thee Corozain and Bethsaida. How many times have I tried to gather you together like a hen gathers her chicks under her wings but thou wouldst not.  Shalt thou be saved unto heaven?  Thou shalt be cast even unto hell........... etc. etc. etc.  ............. bottom line, read the Bible.

Lourdes attracted more than six million visitors last year. The Catholic church recognises 68 miracles linked to it and many disabled or sick people go there to pray for a cure. —

Looks like they'll need to update the miracle list: now it's 69 miracles!  HAHAHAHAHA

Indeed not, if with "we" you mean us, meaning a hand-full of tradcats.
But the other 1,199,900,000 Newchurch Catholics do need it, maybe?

Bowler, thank your for this thread, which underlines very, very interesting coherences.

Not saying your point isn't a good point, but at least 50% of the world's 1.2 billion Catholics are LITERALLY Catholic in name only...  They probably never set foot in a church after their parents had them baptised as a baby.  Numbers can be deceptive.

Will Anthony Benedict be apologising? I am disappointed with Patricius and the team for not apologising to those with a mental illness.

Many on Cath Info have been praying for Patricius, so I certainly am calling on him to clarify what Anthony Benedict means?

Wow! That's two miracles! The first one was when JPII appeared in the fires of... errr... heaven!

And a third "miracle" possibly relates to Assisi I........

A statue of Buddha was allowed to be placed on top of the tabernacle in the Church of St. Peter in Assisi on Oct 27, 1986.

Eleven years later, on Sept 27, 1997 a great "miracle" occurred when a devastating earthquake in that region of Italy strategically took out the altar. See picture at link below (scroll down to picture & article):

Padrepio, I don't know if you are an American but I will admit that Yanks are a fairly irreverent lot, even if the subject well and truly deserves it.

However, your points about mental illness are apt, fair and reasonable. To be straight with you, had I thought the remark ( it's a fairly common allusion I've heard over the years ) would have upset anyone, I might have thought better of it and rewritten it.

I concur with your compassion for those afflicted with mental illness. It has been my own experience with a few folks I've know, when visiting them in psychiatric facilities, that they are suffering just as deeply as any other folks I've visited in regular hospitals.

Be assured, I meant nothing disparaging against truly ill folks. The comment was simply a "device" to stick it to exceedingly exclusivist know-it-all types out to attack anyone and everything not in absolute conformity with their pet theory, idol or purely imaginary supernatural idiosyncrasies.

And while I shall keep in mind your kind remarks on behalf of the victims of chronic and acute mental illness, allow me one observation. I always tried to bring a bit of humor to the patients I visited in psychiatric falcilities. It seemed to help.

Nope, not "accusing" folks on another site of "mental illness". Chalk it up, please, to raw Yankee sarcasm.

And on punishments from God, I am never unmindful how many I personally deserve. In this case, in France, I think it might be a touch of "divine sarcasm" ( look it up, it happens!, it's in the bible! ) at work.

A truly inspired use of bandwidth by Mr. Grace. I feel so sanctified.
