  • I wonder how long it will take for Rorate to feign horror and disgust at those who would print this before printing it themselves?

  • English version?  My high school French class left me only able to ask if you want to go to the beach.

  • I think part of it could refer to marriage tribunals!

    Long time since I studied Francais though.

  • I am using my phone, so I apologise in advance that this will not be a thorough treatment of the letter.  The absolute conditions for canonical regularisation presented by the Chapter to Rome are (i) the liberty to teach according to the constant Magisterium of the Church and the immutable Truth of apostolic Tradition, including the right to correct and denounce those who publicly profess Modernist errors, liberalism, and the errors of the Council; (ii) the right to use the 1962 missal exclusively and to maintain current sacramental practice (confirmation, orders, marriage); and (iii) the guarantee of at least one bishop.

    The hopeful conditions are (i) the right to not seek permission from local bishops to operate; (ii) and the establishment of a Traditional priest as president of the Pontifical Commission, along with the majority of its members.  The meanin of the first hopeful condition, which I did not include here, was not clear to me, but it has something to do with the ecclesiastical tribunals being kept in their current state.  Somebody please correct me if I am misinterpreting this.

    There is more but I am running short on time.  Hopefully somebody can be more thorough than me.  Au revoir.

    The General Chapter

    This took place at Ecône from 9th to 14th July, following a priests’ retreat preached by Fr Alain Lorans, the former rector of that seminary. The chapter began with its calling, with the reading of the rules of the chapter and the examination of the convocations, as well as of the case of Bishop Williamson, who has seen himself suspended from his office of capitulant by reason of canon 2331, 1 and 2 (NC 1373). The chapter gave its approval to the Superior General by a very large majority. The capitulants then invoked the Holy Ghost before swearing to keep secret the deliberations of the Chapter. The work of the Chapter was thus then able to begin.

    You will see attached the Final Declaration that the Chapter adopted before it broke up and its members made their way to the tomb of our esteemed founder. This declaration will be made public on DICI, the official organ of communication of the General House.

    Also, the essential conditions of any normalisation of our relations with the official Church were given a better definition :

    The sine qua non conditions to which the Society binds itself and that she requires from the Roman authorities before considering a canonical recognition :

    1 Freedom to keep, to transmit and to teach the sane doctrine of the unchanging magisterium of the Church and of the unchangeable truth of Divine Tradition ; freedom to defend, to correct and to reprove, even in public, those responsible for the errors or novelties of modernism, of liberalism, of The Second Vatican Council and their consequences ;

    2 Exclusive use of the liturgy of 1962. The retention of the sacramental practice that we have at the moment (including holy orders, confirmation and marriage) ;

    3 The guarantee of at least one bishop.

    Desirable conditions :

    1 Our own ecclesiastical tribunals, in the first instance ;

    2 Exemption of houses of The Society of St Pius X in respect of diocesan bishops ;

    3 A Pontifical Commission in Rome for Tradition, dependent on the Pope, with a majority of members, and the presidency, from Tradition.

    The Acts of the Chapter will be published in the edition of Cor Unum to come out between now and the end of July. You will read how the keeping of natural, professional and commis secrets is a serious obligation, binding in justice. May this circular letter, meant only for superiors and to be made known to members of The Society of St Pius X, remain within our society, and not be made known in public, in particular on the Internet, on forums and blogs.

    Rome

    Bishop Fellay has asked me to add the following considerations :

    The General House is well aware of the trouble and disquiet – often exagerrated - that have been caused by certain ambiguities, ambiguities that Rome has only clarified very recently, in particular by the reply of Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith dated 13th June last. Bishop Fellay is, moreover, grateful to Rome for having, at last, clarified precisely its position, which will allow the problems to be dealt with more easily in future. From now on, may our energies be united, and may rash judgements, and knocking of each other, stop.

    Bishop Fellay is the most clever letter leaker!

    There was his October 2011 scolding of Bp Williamson letter that "leaked out" and then his May 2012 admonishment letter to the three Bishops that leaked out.

    His Excellency is a very leaky guy.

    "Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

  • Hmmm...interesting.  Why is the SSPX not using GPG4WIN:

    http://www.gpg4win.org/

    And, TrueCrypt:

    http://www.truecrypt.org/

    And, Tor:

    https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser.html.en

    Or, my own Mixmaster relay:

    http://anonusa.net/

    Which I told "Louis," the SSPX webmaster about months ago!

    How about a Rosary Crusade to Break the Monopoly?

    Now is the time to Consecrate Bishops for the Dominicans, Franciscans and a new Bishop for each continent.

  • Have the SSPX ever attended a negotiations seminar?

    Even if they haven't, common sense tells you, you don't lay your cards all out on the table and then try to negotiate!

    If the Society were buying a car, here's how their negotiations would go:

    "Here you go kind used car dealer. I have thoroughly examined my finances, scraped together all the money I have, and the absolute maximum I can afford is $20,000 for your car. HOWEVER, I would very much desire to buy your car at $17,000 $15,000 or even $12,000."

     :fryingpan:

    Used car dealer will do one of three things:

    1.) Try to get the Society to pay more than $20k, even though they've said that's all they can afford.

    2.) Sell the car to them for $20,000.

    3.) Tell them no deal.

    SO, the Society has just taken the most important negotiation of our time with souls in the balance and played their hand like a 5 year old. The MOST they will possibly get now is their list of essential conditions.

    I can't believe that protection from the rabid local bishops was one of their OPTIONAL conditions! Are they insane!!??

    Sigh...  :facepalm:

  • Catholics do not negotiate their Faith and morals.

    Bp Fellay, his inner circle, and his court Zionist on the other hand....

    In view of empty collection plates, reversed pledges, and plenty of anger, I believe the statement, though addressed to the neo-Pharisees, is talking at the angry and restless SSPX laity.  As some have observed, the Master of Leaks, Misdirection, and Works of Darkness is at work.

    That's the whole point. To negotiate a deal where you don't have to do that. Anything else is unacceptable.

    In plain English Stevus... as St. Athanasius couldn't, we can't negotiate with Apostate "Rome".
