  • How low can you go? Look how they broadcast it to cause sensationalism like Entertainment Tonight and scroll down for the midnight special!  :tv-disturbed:They get to comment all they want but the priests who speak in the spirit of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre are gunned down by their own confreres. Even Fr. Pfeiffer is not allowed to go the annual Auriesville Pilgrimage today. What's the point of being Catholic?

VIDEO INTERVIEW COMING ON MONDAY, JUNE 11:
Fr. Rostand speaks about current events in Rome

Fr. Arnaud Rostand (USA District Superior) has given an interview to Angelus Press about the current situation between Rome and the SSPX. No subject was left off the table. From rumors, to open attacks, to the state of the SSPX at large, and in the USA District - this interview covers everything!

    COMING MONDAY:
Part 1 will examine the state of the SSPX in the United States, as well as the history of discussions with the Vatican authorities, and discussing some of the rumors related to a possible recognition of Rome by the Society.
PARTS 2 AND 3 TO BE RELEASED LATER NEXT WEEK:
Part 2 will discuss Bishop Fellay’s interview with CNS, whether the SSPX has changed positions on a doctrinal agreement, what has changed in Rome, some objections to Bishop Fellay’s position, and more!
Part 3, following quickly on Part 2, will review the personal prelature, the Rosary Crusade, this year’s General Chapter of the SSPX, as well as appeals to the faithful.

A special request from Fr. Rostand:

Help us get 3500 new subscribers by June 11th and
every subscriber gets 15% off any Angelus Press purchase!

    Dear friend and faithful reader,
As you are no doubt aware, we are in an important time for the Church and our dear Society of St. Pius X. Led by our Superior General, Bishop Fellay, we continue the battle for Catholic Tradition, following the path laid out by our venerable founder, Archbishop Lefebvre.
We are committed to making sure that you receive updates and news about the Society in general and especially about Rome and the SSPX. But most importantly we are committed to giving you verifiable, accurate information about the events at this historic time.
All of which brings me to my point: I need your help.
We want to make sure that as many Catholics as possible receive official Society announcements and news directly from us. The goal is to make sure that you, and your friends and family, receive timely and truthful information. This is why I’m asking you to send this email to at least 5 of your friends and family, asking them to subscribe to our free updates list.
As a way of saying thanks for your help, we have teamed up with Angelus Press to bring you a special offer. If we can add 3,500 new subscribers to our updates list by midnight of Monday, June 11, 2012, we will send every subscriber on our updates list a special promo code, giving them 15% off their next purchase from Angelus Press!
So here's what you do. E-mail any friends or family members who you think may be interested in our updates and encourage them to sign-up at www.sspx.org/subscribe.htm - let them also know about Angelus Press' special offer, so they can tell their friends too!
So remember: if we achieve our goal of 3,500 new subscribers by midnight of Monday, June 11, 2012, Angelus Press will give 15% off to anyone who is on our updates list before the deadline.
In advance, thank you for helping our website to provide accurate information about the Society of St. Pius X to as many people as possible!
    With my blessing and prayers,
    Fr. Arnaud Rostand,
    SSPX USA District Superior

  • It has been reckoned even on this forum that 95% of people and priests will follow Bishop Fellay. But here we have another interview on the cards. Why, if 95% are already in the bag? BpF has said in previous interviews, and in a dismissive fashion, that he expects some seepage out of the Society - but not much.

Could it be that the Sunday collections are down by more than the 5%?

One can have assets worth millions, and employ wizkids to manage these, but at the end of the day you need hard cash to get by with your day to day needs, else you will have to start disposing some of those fixed assets.

Elsewhere, Ethelred quotes John Lane commenting on how the June 2012 version of BpF is a bit softer than that of  the few months just gone by. Perhaps the till isn't ringing that much?

  • Excellent point ANJC…

And let’s state it even more explicitly: Anyone opposed to the on-going attempted accommodation to the errors of Vatican II/Benedict XVI, or even having serious doubts about the future of the Society, must not contribute even one penny until things are clearly resolved one way or the other. Either the Traditional Faith or conciliarism.

And this must be said explicitly too, given fallen human nature: We must be careful to set aside every penny not contributed at this time and even add more than usual to it, so that when the time comes it is all given to God’s work. We cannot spend it on ourselves and say “I’ll make it up again later”. No, when the time comes it must all go to either a Society headed by Bishop de Mallerais or Bishop Williamson (or another true son of Christ the King) or to a new (but  really the old Society of Archbishop Lefebvre) Society containing all the priests who don’t sell out to Caiaphas.

  • This is the best thumbs up to my previous post I could possibly ask for...

From Bishop Williamson's latest letter...quoting Archbishop Lefebrve himself no less!

"... and we are advising our faithful to give no more support to an operation which is henceforth in the hands of our enemies, the enemies of Our Lord Jesus Christ and of his Universal Kingship."

Referring to LeBarroux in 1988, but is there anyone who doubts why Bishop Williamson (God keep him!) is quoting this today?

I thought the sacraments and its effects wouldn't depend on the monetary reliability of a fraternity...  :stare:

  • Sigh!...Its things like this that make Protestants think Catholics don’t read the Bible!

Did you never hear of the Pharisees rebuking Christ and the disciples for eating wheat as they walked through a field on the Sabbath or Jesus healing on the Sabbath? And Christ rebuked them harshly as blind hypocrites for following the dead letter of the law and violating God’s intent and Spirit behind it.

The rule on contributing to your parish is for those who would selfishly not contribute their fair share just to save money or over personal grudges. I made clear in my post the money cannot be converted to our own use, it must eventually be given to the support of the Church…When it is clear where it should go to actually support the Church, not tear it down! Like the Pharisees you condemn yourself if you cite blind adherence to the letter of the law. The law says you must support your parish. Unlike sedevacantists the Society recognizes that our local NO parishes ARE our local parishes, but we don’t support them in this emergency and only so long as the state of emergency lasts, until all the true Faith is taught there again. Because to support them would violate the intent of the law, it would be contributing to the destruction of the Faith, not its support.

We are only talking about withholding the funds FOR A TIME, until it is clear where they should go. If we are going to go by blind adherence to the letter for that matter, it doesn’t say how often you must contribute. Is the Church a retail store where you pay each time you receive a sacrament? Well then, we are even adhering to the letter of the law as long as the contributions are given as soon as it’s clear who is upholding Tradition.

  • Did you not read a word of the previous post? Do you not know anything of the Catholic Faith?

We do not pay for Sacraments. In fact it is forbidden, it is the sin of simony.

If you make a required connection between money and receiving a sacrament that is the sin of simony.

If we are required by God's law to suspend our contribution for a time because of some necessity we are not forbidden to receive the sacraments. There is no such teaching anywhere.

I think this John Lane post could be repeated here, because it's a clever analysis and on topic:

    Quote from: [u
    John Lane[/u]]
    8. Juni 2012, 02:51 AM

    [..]
Consider another hypothesis, that the deal really is in trouble in Rome.

Bishop Fellay knows this, and wonders if it will die and he will be left with an internal disaster and no gain from the exercise. What does he do?

First, he established long ago the principle that any failure of the deal will not be the fault of the Fraternity. So anything he says or does must conform to that agenda. He can't call it off.

Second, he would try and undo some of the division he has caused. What are the causes of division? 1. Contradicting Archbishop Lefebvre on Dignitatis Humanae. 2. Accusing anybody against the deal of "sedevacantism." 3. Speaking of a potential split in a blase manner, as if he didn't care. 4. Abandoning the principle of no canonical agreement without doctrinal agreement. 5. The impression that Bishop Fellay and Benedict have directly negotiated something and that they are just waiting for the storm to blow over before it is announced. 6. The impression that there must already exist an agreement with details which are acceptable to Bishop Fellay, since he has been so confident that a deal will happen.

The interview conducted with DICI, his own organ, deals with all of these things in a manner designed to smooth them over. Keep in mind this is not a real interview. It's a prepared text in question-and-answer format which probably went through dozens of drafts.

    1. He backtracks on Dignitatis Humanae, delicately, and blames CNS [Catholic News Service].
    2. He backtracks on his accusation of "sedevacantism" and assigns a totally different cause to the opposition. "But I really think that the main concern among us is rather the question of trust in the Roman authorities, with the fear that what might happen would be a trap."
    3. He no longer foresees a split, not even by bishop Williamson, but hopes that the bishops will remain with the Fraternity.
    4. He blurrs the question of whether a principle has been abandoned, and simply asserts that "rome" has shifted position.
    5. He reveals that he has had no direct contact with Benedict!
    6. He says that the details are not yet known to him and are being worked on in Rome.

Then his last words, and last words are always chosen carefully, emphasise that whether or not there will be an agreement is unknown, and we must all pray. So that's the take-away from the "interview."

It's a revolting text in many ways, as I've said elsewhere, but what's its true purpose?

Is it really necessary to suspend contributions at this time?  The priest is good enough to give you the Sacraments, but not good enough to support materially.  He needs to eat and pay the bills, doesn't he?  I would stop supporting materially if I were out of that chapel completely.
