Thank you, Tele and Neil.  I dearly hope that Fr. Rostand and +Fellay and Co. DO read the forums, and especially this thread.  The "Pandora's box" that they have opened is now theirs to close.

  • Quote from: Fr. Rostand
Over the past months, during which these attacks have intensified, it is noteworthy that most of the “indiscretions,” “leaks” and rumors about the Society were released on sedevacantist sites and newly-opened sites animated by the same spirit.

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to apologize for using my God-given faculty of reason.

I want to be on the side of truth as much as any other good Catholic.

I WANT to believe you're the good guy, Fr. Rostand, but you make it impossible.

The statement I quoted (above) is an outright lie. CathInfo is neither a sedevacantist site, nor a newly-established one. The two sites that brought most SSPX "leaks" and real news to the English speaking world: CathInfo and Ignis Ardens. Neither are sedevacantist, and both have been around for years.

I suppose he could claim a "mental reservation" since CathInfo does allow Sedes to be members. But calling it a "Sedevacantist website" is still quite a bit of a stretch.

What I see (and I can't see anything else, even with great effort) is a smear/disinformation tactic. He's using Sedevacantist as a sort of boogey-man, to try to scare the more sheep-like followers away from this and other sites, where they might (gasp!) learn the truth.

I don't see any other way to interpret such an obvious falsehood.

  • This brings me back to the talk Fr. Rostand gave at our chapel.

He basically is trying to say that this whole SSPX-Rome crisis was a fabrication of some rumor-mongers. The whole thing was a big misunderstanding.

    NOT TRUE!

Did Bishop Fellay, or did he not, attempt to do a practical deal with Rome, with the idea that "now is the time, before Pope Benedict XVI passes on to his reward!"

He was quite confident about a deal, too -- until the POPE unexpectedly withdrew the deal.

It was actually quite an ingenious tactic on Rome's part, to undermine the SSPX. Bishop Fellay & co. are doing about the only thing they can -- though it's outside the lines of morality -- to try to salvage their credibility and authority.

    A most ingenious "photographic restoration"!

How does Bp. Fellay think he can get away with trying to hijack the hearts and minds of the SSPX?   I will never get it.

  • He's found a "substantial anchorage" in the rot that's developed, unfortunately.

He couldn't get away with it were it not for the desire for liberalization that is all too common among people who consider themselves trads.

  • When Fr. Rostand was first enshrined as DS of America, I asked our former prior, "Well, Father he's good right?" In his simple but most honest way, he said, "I don't think so." I was puzzled then but no longer am I fooled! And in the words of Fr. Chazal, "Fr. Rostand is a true liberal."

In my book, he's earned the name Mr. Hitman Rostand Romney!

It is certainly not the humble pie I would expect from people who just came out saying the Pope had expected them to accept VII, essentially proving the "rumor-mongers" were correct to be not only wary but courageous in their objections. I would have a heck of a lot more respect if SOMEone simply came out with an "I'm sorry, we were wrong in our judgement of Pope Benedict's intentions, let's start fresh." Going on like this only makes them seem implicated in the Pope's intentions not victims of them.

Neil, your point about putting up ABL sermons on the SSPX websites is the most poignant of all.

I can't handle too many days like this, it is too disheartening sometimes. DH and I are buying all ABL this Christmas. I worry for posterity. The devil is always in the details and we need to ensure they have the tools to sift through those details.

This is a good point WallFlower.

Bp. Fellay instead reacted with arrogance and hubris to his justified critics .

He tried "playing dumb" with the act: "See, no deal was done?"

Then he implemented his "crack-down" program and all his
pre-positioned sycophants ralled to his cause.

The behavior of these SSPX clerics clearly indicates they do not care about saving souls or the Catholic Faith.

Father Rostand and all his associates be it fellow henchmen or higher ups. YOU are clearly influenced by the devil. To accuse others of what YOU are doing.YOU are making the bad things YOU are doing into somehow something the resistance has done and taking for YOURSELF the good the resistance is accomplishing and making it look like YOU are striving for the same thing.  YOU are sucking the life out of the SSPX. YOU have lost all credibility amongst those who can see. YOU are trying to deceive even the elect as if that were possible. YOU are spiders trapping souls and sucking the life out of them. This fight is about SOULS and the resisitance will NEVER give up. YOU have already lost for Christ has told US : "In the world you will have trials but have no fear, I have overcome the world." Viva Christo Rey!!

Exactly! Everything he accuses the Resistance of, actually describes himself and his motives.

I'm surprised he didn't have Brian McCall write this in "gobbledy-gook language" so we (the Resistance) wouldn't see his vindictiveness!

I saw this on IA earlier, it looks like Fr. Rostand has decided to spew some more garbage:

    Quote
    Dear Friends and Benefactors,

Returning from the General Chapter of the Society of St. Pius X, I would like to thank you for your generous prayers for the intentions of this important meeting.

The Chapter, gathering all superiors and elder priests of the Society, went very well. As you may have already read in the official declaration of the Chapter, a profound unity was recovered - unity in our essential mission, unity in our actions, as well as unity of government under our Superior General, His Excellency Bishop Bernard Fellay.

    ....

    Fr. Arnaud Rostand

"a profound unity was recovered" stands in stark contrast to the comments made by Bishop Tissier de Mallerais to Father Chazal regarding the General Chapter...........it would seem that one of them must be "prevaricating".............you be the judge........

  • The NSSPX has had for a long time a very myopic view of the Priesthood.  A central point they miss is the following...

    Quote
Pastors of souls ought, on no account, to be ignorant of the reason why they are placed higher than other men: it is not so much that they may govern others, as that they may serve them.

~ Abbot Rupert (Rup., Div. Off., xii. 18)

  • As I wrote here, the SSPX has been liberalized. It is dominated by people with liberal mindsets, and now Bishop Fellay has unfortunately let liberalism influence him.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

Back by popular demand... with a little added Romanitas.

The Grinder is cranking out Roma Capoccia as the monkey dances.

    Roma Capoccia

Quanto sei bella Roma quand'e' sera
    quando la luna se specchia
    dentro ar fontanone
e le coppiette se ne vanno via,
quanto sei bella Roma quando piove.

Quanto sei bella Roma quand'e' er tramonto
    quando l'arancio rosseggia
    ancora sui sette colli
e le finestre so' tanti occhi,
che te sembrano dì: quanto sei bella.

    Oggi me sembra che
er tempo se sia fermato qui,
    vedo la maestà der Colosseo
    vedo la santità der cupolone,
e so' piu' vivo e so' più bbono
    no nun te lasso mai
    Roma capoccia der mondo infame,
na carrozzella va co du stranieri
un robivecchi te chiede un po'de stracci
    li passeracci so'usignoli;
    io ce so'nato Roma,
    io t'ho scoperta stamattina.

    Rome (English Translation)

How beautiful you are oh Rome in the evenings
    when the moon reflects itself
    inside the big fountain
and the couples desert the streets
How beautiful you are oh Rome when it rains

How great you are oh Rome when it’s dusk
    and the orange turns red
on top of your seven hills
and the windows are like numerous eyes
that seem to tell you: how beautiful you are!

    Today it feels like
    if time had stopped here
I see the majesty of the Colosseum
I see the sanctity of the big Dome
and I am more alive and I am better
    no, I’ll never leave you
Rome, head of this infamous world
a carriage drives away two foreigners
a second-hand dealer asks you if you’ve got some rags
    the bedraggled sparrows are nightingales
    I was born in Rome
    I discovered you this morning
