Thank you, Tele and Neil.  I dearly hope that Fr. Rostand and +Fellay and Co. DO read the forums, and especially this thread.  The "Pandora's box" that they have opened is now theirs to close.

Quote from: Fr. Rostand
Over the past months, during which these attacks have intensified, it is noteworthy that most of the “indiscretions,” “leaks” and rumors about the Society were released on sedevacantist sites and newly-opened sites animated by the same spirit.

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to apologize for using my God-given faculty of reason.

I want to be on the side of truth as much as any other good Catholic.

I WANT to believe you're the good guy, Fr. Rostand, but you make it impossible.

The statement I quoted (above) is an outright lie. CathInfo is neither a sedevacantist site, nor a newly-established one. The two sites that brought most SSPX "leaks" and real news to the English speaking world: CathInfo and Ignis Ardens. Neither are sedevacantist, and both have been around for years.

I suppose he could claim a "mental reservation" since CathInfo does allow Sedes to be members. But calling it a "Sedevacantist website" is still quite a bit of a stretch.

What I see (and I can't see anything else, even with great effort) is a smear/disinformation tactic. He's using Sedevacantist as a sort of boogey-man, to try to scare the more sheep-like followers away from this and other sites, where they might (gasp!) learn the truth.

I don't see any other way to interpret such an obvious falsehood.

This brings me back to the talk Fr. Rostand gave at our chapel.

He basically is trying to say that this whole SSPX-Rome crisis was a fabrication of some rumor-mongers. The whole thing was a big misunderstanding.

NOT TRUE!

Did Bishop Fellay, or did he not, attempt to do a practical deal with Rome, with the idea that "now is the time, before Pope Benedict XVI passes on to his reward!"

He was quite confident about a deal, too -- until the POPE unexpectedly withdrew the deal.

It was actually quite an ingenious tactic on Rome's part, to undermine the SSPX. Bishop Fellay & co. are doing about the only thing they can -- though it's outside the lines of morality -- to try to salvage their credibility and authority.

Thank you Ferdinand

A most ingenious "photographic restoration"!

How does Bp. Fellay think he can get away with trying to hijack the hearts and minds of the SSPX?   I will never get it.

He's found a "substantial anchorage" in the rot that's developed, unfortunately.

He couldn't get away with it were it not for the desire for liberalization that is all too common among people who consider themselves trads.
