Pagliarani was, until now, director of the Argentine seminary of the FSSPX.Election of the General AssistantsThe new Superior General of the Fraternity Saint Pius X, Father Davide Pagliarani, with the other 40 members of the Chapter, decided to proceed with the election of the two General Assistants this afternoon.
The first elected Assistant was Monsignor Alfonso de Galarreta, auxiliary bishop of the Fraternity of St. Pius X, of Spanish nationality. He was ordained a priest in 1980 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he lived for many years. He directed the Seminary of Our Lady Co-redemptrix of La Reja (Argentina), as well as the Autonomous House of Spain and Portugal. He was also second assistant from 2002 to 2006. He currently resides in the city of Geneva (Switzerland).
Father Christian Bouchacourt, a French national, was elected as second general assistant. Aged 59, he was ordained a priest by Monsignor Lefebvre in 1986. He worked for many years in Paris, particularly in the Church of Saint-Nicolas du Chardonnet; he was superior of the district of South America, and since 2014 he was superior of the district of France.
With these elections, the General Chapter will be able to start treating, from tomorrow, the many issues to be studied until next July 21st.
