  • Fourth Sunday after Easter

In the prayer for today’s Mass we read:

O God who makest the faithful to be of one mind: grant that thy people may love what thou commandest, and desire what thou promisest: that amidst the uncertainties of this world, we may place our affections where there are true joys. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ thy Son who lives and reigns with thee forever and ever. Amen.

Today we are concerned about the crisis in the world, which exacerbates the crisis in the Church by preventing Mass and other public devotions, for example the Palm Sunday procession in honour of Christ the King did not happen. We do need to be concerned about these things and make provision for future evils as far as we can foresee them. However, our main concern needs to be the salvation of our own soul and those dependent on us.

Some of you depend on me for Mass and the sacraments and I regret that I have been unable to visit you with these necessary treasures. Some of you have not yet been able to make your Easter Communion. This is a commandment of the Church which binds only when reasonably possible. The Church does not bind us to the impossible. When you cannot receive Communion at Easter time there is no obligation. O Lord grant us many holy priests.

St. James tells us in today’s Epistle:

Every best gift, and every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor shadow of alteration. For of His own Will hath he begotten us by the word of truth, that we might be some beginning of His creatures.

We should pray and do penance for these evil men. “Many sinners do not convert because no one prays and does penance for them.” They are preparing a terrible hell for themselves, if we could spare them thatthey would be eternally grateful, there would be great joy in heaven, and we would merit a great reward for ourselves.

Everything in this world is transient. It will not last and our possession of it is uncertain. We should not rely on such things, nor should we be overly concerned about them. We have lost our job, the mortgage payment is due, we have trouble getting food, etc.

Knowledgeable people are predicting economic collapse, famine, and war. Africans have suffered much from a plague of locusts. Evil men have publicly said that they intend to eliminate (i.e., kill) 90% of the world’s population. We now all live under communism and the surveillance police state. When we see all nations of the world doing the same thing,we know that world government is here. Our politicians are puppets dancing to the tune of the secret rulers of this world.

The main goal of the world rulers is to destroy the Catholic Faith. They not only want to kill that 90%, they want to send them down to Hell. One hundred years ago when Our Lady showed Hell to the children at Fatima they saw souls falling into it like “snowflakes in a snowstorm”. That was before the “Roaring 20s” began the revolution in women’s dress; before the 40s gave us WWII and the enslavement of many Catholic nations under communist regimes; before the 50s gave us television, the cinema and newsreels to deceive us and take the truth from our hearts and accustom us to immorality, and rock n roll; before the 60s gave us Vietnam, Vatican II, the New Mass, and the cultural revolution. The snowstorm seen in Fatima has certainly increased in intensity. The number going to heaven is small. The prophet Osee said:

"Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel, for the Lord shall enter into judgment with the inhabitants of the land: for there is no truth, and there is no mercy, and there is no knowledge of God in the land."

He could be speaking of our day.

The evils molesting us are all permitted by God. Catholic political leaders and Churchmen have been compromising with evil and the enemies of Christ the King for centuries. Our Lord reigns nowhere in this world, not even in the Vatican. He has been uncrowned and dethroned everywhere. The alternative to the Pax Christi is the terror of the Prince of this World. “I will give you all the kingdoms of the world if falling down thou wilt adore me.” There were men who accepted Satan’s offer and now control all the kingdoms of the world.

God permits this because His children instead of knowing, loving, and serving Him have preferred worldly riches and honours and become proud. Many have lost the Faith because they did not treasure it. “And they changed the glory of the incorruptible God into the likeness of the image of a corruptible man, and of birds, and of fourfooted beasts, and of creeping things.

Mankind deserves to be punished more than we did in the days of Noe. In Noe’s day men were not guilty of rejecting Our Lord Jesus Christ. They did not say “We will not have this man reign over us.”

More than 99% of mankind perished in the flood. The evils that may yet come upon us will be well-deserved.

Some things are certain. No one dies without God’s permission. No one dies without having received sufficient grace to save his soul. God is merciful to everyone. God is just to everyone. God knows all things, past, present, and future. God is all powerful and cannot be resisted. God is very patient. The Blessed Virgin Mary has a mother’s heart toward all her children and holds back the arm of Her Son from striking. She is a certain refuge for sinners. The salvation of sinners depends upon the just praying and doing penance for them.

Sometimes God allows a sinner to die out of mercy, that he commit no more sins and prepare a greater punishment in hell for himself. Sometimes God allows an innocent person to die so that they do not commit a sin and cast themselves into hell. God is good to all His creatures.

What should we do? Listen to St. James. Seek the better gifts, with meekness receive the ingrafted word which is able to save your souls. The better gifts are supernatural. These are the gifts coming from God the Father. All good comes from God. He gives us the sunshine and rain and the increase in the crops, etc.

These natural goods he gives us through the means of other creatures. By the law he has put into creation and which is governed by angels. The better gifts, the supernatural ones come from God directly. These are the theological virtues, Faith, Hope and Charity, Sanctifying grace, etc. Mass and the Sacraments were given us by Our Lord Jesus Christ. Sanctifying Grace comes directly from God, but it also comes by means of the sacraments. If we had a true understanding of sanctifying grace, we would have a horror of sin. Grace is a participation in God’s nature. We are called and we really are children of God. Baptism raises a child from the depths of sin and enmity with God to the level of the Divine. The child of wrath becomes a beloved child of God. There is great joy in heaven when a child is baptised. The distance between the supernatural state of grace and the state of sin, original or actual, is infinite. The supernatural level is infinitely higher than the natural level.

We should desire the gifts that raise us to that level or enable us to grow in grace. Pray that you will keep the faith and be given final perseverance.

One error of Vatican II and the Conciliar Popes and Bishops is to confuse the natural with the supernatural, teaching that naturally good actions merit heaven. This leads to universal salvation, there is no need to be a child of God to be saved. Baptism is not necessary. It leads to religious liberty. Faith is not necessary.

There is no difference between the believer and the unbeliever. Between the heretic and the Christian. There is no need to pray, no need for the sacraments. In fact, there are no better gifts to seek.

There are only the gifts of this world.

The supernatural disappears in the Conciliar Church.

The Pope and Bishops do not protest governments preventing the Mass because they agree at least implicitly that the health of the body is more important than the health of the soul. Something proved erroneous by every martyr.

We need to perseveringly pray that we can have Mass and the Sacraments. Our Lord told us “Ask, and it shall be given you: seek, and you shall find: knock, and it shall be opened to you. For every one that asketh, receiveth: and he that seeketh, findeth: and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened. These treasures will be given to us. When we receive them, we must treasure them.

When we get to go to Confession we must make efforts to have perfect contrition for our sins and a firm purpose of amendment, being determined not to go back to our wicked ways. We must have true gratitude for the gift of Sanctifying Grace and treasure it above all things. Devout assistance at one Mass gives us great treasures. Let us learn from these deprivations not to take these treasures for granted.

Have confidence in Our Lady and pray for the triumph of Her Immaculate Heart.
Rejoice in the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Rejoice in His victory over sin and death and the Kingdom of Satan. Satan reigns for the moment but his defeat is assured. He is waiting for the moment when Our Lady’s heel will crush his head. We should eagerly look forward to this moment as well.

    May God bless you,
    Fr. MacDonald
