  • I heard last night that Fr James Doran is no longer with the SSPX.

Can anyone provide details of why?

Also, heard he is living with Fr Brendan Arthur (see other thread about him), a former SSPX priest who now says the new "mass."

    Can anyone provide details?

Also, does anyone know how to get in touch with him (I.e., Fr Pfeiffer is trying to reach out to him, it seems, but has not been able to establish contact).

  • You must have missed what I wrote on a previous thread:

    (1) Fr. Doran indeed was assigned to go to Canada
    (2) For whatever reason that did not happen and after some time in the US he returned to Australia
    (3) He was not able to return to his former chapel for reasons that I do not fully know
    (4) He spent some time with Fr. Arthur since he had nowhere else to go (I asked Fr. Arthur in an email and apparently Fr. Doran only spent a few weeks there in November)
    (5) He returned to the US and that is where everything stands

There is NO evidence whatsoever that Fr. Doran left the SSPX. What he is going to do now is anyone's guess. The best thing to do is pray for him.

  • From what I know he was supposed to take Fr. Scott's place at the New Hamburg school in Canada but Fr. Scott ended up staying.

I would be very happy to be kept informed if anyone here has solid information. Even on a personal level I usually like to know where he is, it doesn't have to be with regards to the SSPX.

  • I have been told he is jobless and homeless.

After his initial reassignment "fell through," he was never given another assignment.

Is this the new PR approved way to expel SSPX priests?

It allows Menzingen to say they left on their own accord?

Just starve them out until they have to go elsewhere for subsistence?

Note: These are questions, not accusations!

How is it that the SSPX doesn't have an assignment for a priest?  I thought they were "short handed"?

Is this priest not at all inclined towards joining the Resistance?. Has anyone asked him?

Can you please help me get a hold of Fr. Doran?  We are seeking a priest to serve our chapel in Toronto.

    CI-

In retrospect, I repent of having written these words.

I should not have verbalized my suspicions without having had more data, and should have given the SSPX the benefit of the doubt until the contrary was proven.

    My apologies.

Apparently not short-handed enough to expel and malign priests  and the good Bishop Williamson.

  • Fr. Chazal clearly told us last night that Fr. Doran received a "soft" expulsion -- he was driven out because he was not holding to the "party line".  He said Fr. Doran is in Australia.

Fr. Doran had been stationed in Post Falls some years back so there are many people here who know him and want to get in touch with him.

Fr. Chazal stated that he did not believe that Fr. Doran was interested in joining the resistance (at this point).

Watch for the audio recording of that talk soon to get his exact words.

  • Does anyone have a snail mail or email contact for Father Libietas?

I heard he was living in Cincinnati.

    Thanks!

  • Traditio has this to say:

    January 21, 2013 - St. Agnes, Virgin & Martyr
    Double Feast
A Reader Writes: "We are Fully Acquainted with the Story of Ousted Pseudo-SSPX Prior Doran
Fellay Is about as Popular amongst Traditional Catholics Here in Australia as the Plague!"
    From: Norman (Australia)
    James Doran
Fr. James Doran, Australia Prior for the Pseudo-SSPX
    Now Virtually Expelled by Fellay
For Continuing to Espouse Archbishop Lefebvre's Traditional Catholic Principles
The Prior Understood that He Would Probably Be Ousted
Just Like the Other Clergy Ousted or Expelled by Fellay
As In Fact Happened because Doran Remained Silent
And Would Not Become a Full-Throated Sycophant to Fellay

    Dear TRADITIO Fathers:

We here in Melbourne, Australia, are fully acquainted with the story of Australian Prior James Doran, whom Bernie Fellay has now essentially expelled from the Pseudo-SSPX for continuing to espouse Archbishop Lefebvre's traditional Catholic principles. Fr. Doran celebrated the Traditional Latin Mass most diligently and took his time in all things liturgical, ensuring great reverence amongst the community. He is an excellent preacher and has motivated many attendees to greater devotion through his teaching of the traditional Catholic Faith and its history.

Fr. Doran came here with his eyes open. He realized that Fellay was unable to maintain the loyalty of his clergy here and had in fact transferred in and out some twenty priests. Prior Doran thus understood that he would probably be ousted just like the others -- as in fact happened because he remained silent and would not become a full-throated sycophant to Fellay. Because Fr. Doran was well liked here, he posed a threat to Fellay, who is not liked. When Fellay visited here, he acted rudely toward our congregation.

Fellay had perpetuated a situation in which his congregation would participate in invalid Novus Ordo "reconciliations" and associate with Novus Ordo organizations like the Fraternity of St. Peter, unCatholic practices that Prior Doran was trying to turn around. Fellay had tried to implement a living arrangement at the Pseudo-SSPX school here that would have put students at grave risk, especially in these "paedophile" times. Fr Doran wrote a critique of this proposal and asked for action, but Fr. Doran was attacked by Fellay for pointing out the risk to the students.

Those in the United States being dunned by Fellay to contribute a replacement seminary in Virginia should take heed from our experience here. Fellay made promises to Fr. Doran concerning land acquisitions and development at the school, but later admitted that there were no funds and that the idea was, in effect, "pie in the sky."

In short, Bernie Fellay is about as popular amongst traditional Catholics here as the plague! Because of the high turnover of priests here, I wonder whether this is a symptom of Fellay's mismanagement of his Pseudo-SSPX or is whether it is a deliberate destabilization strategy on Fellay's part.
