I think he knows what may be coming. Go to the 30:50 mark of his sermon from a couple of weeks ago. Listen to what he is saying between the lines. It was heart wrenching to watch this.

  • The “meat” starts at 47:40.

And ends at 1:00:30 -- at least the sermon ends there. The "meat" might have ended before that.

Just wanted to point that out, because some might balk at the length of this video.

Indeed, it does.  We spent a decade in the SSPX.  Coming away from that experience, we could count on less than the fingers of one hand priests or bishops whom we really admired in the Society.  Fr. Burfitt would have been one of them, had we known him at the time.  (We didn't)  I guess Fr. B. proves that something good can even come out of Post Falls.

  • At the 51 minute mark Fr. Burfitt says the God today wants priest generals and captains to lead the flock, to teach them how to act. He's got it! God bless him.

The SSPX today is not teaching the people how to behave, when THAT is their purpose. They are the salt that has lost is savor. Just look around you at how the flock dresses outside of mass, how the 13 and over girls dress and act around boys and men. That way of behavior is the outward manifestation that they are not LIVING the faith. It is the fruit by which one can judge the priest. Today, the few SSPX faithful that are living the faith, are the ones that have taught themselves, and do not rely on their priests, but those types are few, the others need the priests to teach them how to act, to show them what they are doing wrong. I do not see that happening in the SSPX. They teach the catechism. They teach how to "participate" in the mass by singing. They teach how to volunteer to maintain the buildings and grounds. They teach English, Math, Science in the schools. But they do not teach how to LIVE the faith, how Catholics should act. They are not performing their purpose in life. By their fruits you shall know them. They are failures, cowards afraid of even something so simple as telling women how to dress modestly.

That's a pathetic generalization of all SSPX priests. You should be ashamed of such sweeping condemnations of all priests in the SSPX.

The writer accuses one of a generalization with a generalization.

I complimented an SSPX priest, Fr. Burfitt. I complemented SSPX priests for teaching catechism, , how to participate in the mass, how to volunteer to maintain the buildings and grounds (charity and comradery), for teaching English, Math, Science in the schools. And I could add of course providing the mass and sacraments.

I criticized them for one thing, shirking their primary duty today of teaching people how to act, and I gave a simple example "afraid of even something so simple as telling women how to dress modestly".

Can the objector name an SSPX article that teaches women in detail how to dress and act in the last 10 years? We even had a thread here on CI of how in the Kansas City SSPX headquarters the women were wearing jeans and tight pants.

It's a shame the SSPX lost its savor, and came out strong against Consecrations without papal approval.

If they ever DO consecrate a bishop under such circuмstances, they would be Class A hyprocrites.

If they don't, they will end up like the FSSP -- still waiting for the bishop they were promised in 1988.

  • Rome will definitely give the SSPX permission to consecrate a new Bishop. As long as Huondor does the consecration with no co-consecrator.
