I chose to speak about the "400 victims" thing, because the other commentary on this story is obvious.
Obviously I am not a fan of a priest who leaves the SSPX to join the diocese and say 95% Novus Ordo Masses. It's simply not good for souls, period.
The Novus Ordo is fundamentally defective, and the Crisis in the Church is so much deeper than tampering with the Mass. Even if Fr. Arthur says that Novus Ordo Mass "by the book" and as reverently as possible, it won't solve the other issues in the Church.
Don't you suppose many others tried his "path"? That is, "I'll just be a really solid priest in the Novus Ordo, giving good catechism, good example, good sermons, and saying a reverent Mass."
Guess what? Eventually you come up against a wall. Your bishop takes you to task for a sermon you gave, or requires that you re-marry that divorced and improperly annulled couple. Or you forbids you to offend your whole congregation by preaching the Traditional Faith (hint: the Jєωs are no longer the chosen people, they need to convert to be saved, the death penalty is not against the Catholic Faith, and birth control is intrinsically mortally sinful)
Just read the book, "Priest, where is Thy Mass? Mass, where is Thy Priest?" to read the stories of 20 priests who all left the Novus Ordo, and why. The pattern is very clear.
Fr. Arthur neglects to avert to the fact that good priests are outnumbered by a large margin, and ALL THE POWER is in the hands of the Modernists, liberals, ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ cabal, etc.
Fr. Arthur might have an understanding bishop today, but what about next year? 5 years from now? How much will he be asked to compromise? What idol(s) will he be required to burn a grain of incense too, in exchange for his comfort and prestige?
It is hopeless, humanly speaking, to try to fight such a strong, consolidated enemy "from within". It just doesn't work.
We have to leave the resolution to God, while doing everything we can to spread the Faith and help souls. That's what the SSPX used to do. They had hope (converting faithful and priests to Tradition/Catholicism) while not falling into presumption or messianism (we 10 can convert the whole modernist structure!)
There is nothing wrong with absenting yourself from such a turmoil, and maintaining/spreading the Faith outside the official structures, even while acknowledging the papacy of the Pope. The Faith and salvation of souls has to come first. That's why the SSPX had such a great doctrinal position before.
It's obvious that the devil didn't like that position, which is why the SSPX went into crisis last May. The devil never sleeps.
