Title: Former SSPX District Superior of France made his final vows as a Franciscan.
Post by: thebloodycoven on May 07, 2019, 07:07:00 PM
FORMER SSPX DISTRICT SUPERIOR OF FRANCE PRONOUNCED HIS FINAL VOWS AS A FRANCISCAN CAPUCHIN IN MORGON

The former SSPX District Superior of France, then Fr. Regis de Cacqueray, now Fr. Joseph pronounced his final vows before the Franciscan Capuchin monks of Morgon on Wednesday, May 1st, surrounded by a good dozen confreres from the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X and some two hundred faithful.

In his sermon, the Father Guardian showed how the three vows of religion are the very source of spiritual fruitfulness. By detaching from ourselves through obedience, from wealth through poverty, and from temporal fecundity through chastity, the religious vows bind us to the source of all good, that is God.

The Rev. Fr. Edward MacDonald was correct. A "dozen" of SSPX priests is one too many. The friars and the confreres are good chums once more. I guess the OFMCap know what they signed for and its Indult all the way!

Is the beard necessary?

It is a tradition of the Franciscans to grow beards. And why not. That is a fine beard!

It is God's design that men grow beards.

I knew a few traditional Franciscan priests, who didn’t go along with Vatican II, who were ordained in the 1950’s, all of whom didn’t have beards. Many popes including Gregory XVI, Venerable Pius IX, and Saint Pius X didn’t have a beards. Apparently, these great popes didn’t have a problem going against “God’s design“.

What has Vatican II to do with whether beard naturally grow on a real man? It's there unless he shaves it off.

Monks are traditionally bearded.

Guess I'm just puzzled that you would ask is a beard necessary.

I mentioned pre VII, because most Catholics realize that before VII the Church was much more “conservative”.
Were popes Gregory XVI, Pius IX, and Pius X “real men”?

Dude it’s just a beard. You might be looking a little too deep into this.

On a side note, that's a huge beard.  Wouldn't you always be concerned about particles of the Blessed Sacrament getting caught in there after Communion?

Yes, actually, it is. Capuchins are bound by their traditional Constitutions to grow beards, like Our Lord, and not to shave.

Yep, the website is marked with the Fellay copyrite logos... the two Hearts and St. Pope Pius X.

That’s understandable, thanks.
