What has Vatican II to do with whether beard naturally grow on a real man? It's there unless he shaves it off.

Monks are traditionally bearded.

Guess I'm just puzzled that you would ask is a beard necessary.

I mentioned pre VII, because most Catholics realize that before VII the Church was much more “conservative”.
Were popes Gregory XVI, Pius IX, and Pius X “real men”?

On a side note, that's a huge beard.  Wouldn't you always be concerned about particles of the Blessed Sacrament getting caught in there after Communion?

Yes, actually, it is. Capuchins are bound by their traditional Constitutions to grow beards, like Our Lord, and not to shave.
