Title: Father Zendejas
Post by: Matto on April 25, 2013, 01:40:11 PM
Does anyone have any information about Father Zendejas? I would like to know where he is currently located and also what his position is about the resistance. I know he is not on the lists of resistance priests I have seen but maybe someone would know if he is outspoken against the resistance or if he is maybe a silent supporter. I have met him and went to his Mass a few times several years ago and thought he was a very holy priest and those I knew who knew him better all spoke well of him. Thank you.

He is the prior at the Houston, TX priory.

I would describe him as a silent supporter. In the early days of the Crisis, he told his parishioners (during sermons) that they should go home and get on the Internet and get themselves informed about what's going on.

Doesn't sound like the "party line" to me :)

Also, when the 8 disgruntled parishioners at my chapel wanted to "have something done" about my wife and I holding volunteer positions despite our position on the SSPX Crisis (and our running CathInfo), they didn't go to our priest, they didn't go to our prior (Fr. Zendejas) but they went all the way up to Fr. Rostand.

Why? Because they thought they wouldn't get anywhere? Probably.

Last but not least, another priest at that priory was Fr. Dardis -- you might recall that he officially went independent a few months ago, joining the Resistance (though not the Pfeiffer branch of the Resistance).

Thank you, Matthew. This makes me happy because, though I knew him for only a short while (He used to say Mass at the chapel I go to), he was the first SSPX priest I ever met and he was also the one that most impressed me of the dozen or so who I have known.

Actually, there was one other priest who impressed me more, though I do not know his name.

Yes, I was very impressed with Father Zendejas. I thought better of him even than Father Joe Pfeiffer who I met once or twice also when he was on vacation from his post in India.

Any chance you're referring to the NYC "chapel" (sited in a most peculiar location, but then, suitable spaces are at a premium in New Sodom on the Hudson)? I too found him a very dedicated and admirable priest. Though his struggles with the English language produced more than occasional bouts of frustration and unintended merriment, were I to suggest that I could have done a tenth as well in Spanish or any other language would be a flat-out lie.

Yes, I go to Mass at the NYC SSPX chapel. Father Zendejas used to be the priest there before I went regularly. Then it was Father Goldade when I started going regularly and now it is Father Robinson.

I'm just assuming mind you now but I would imagine that fr. Zendejas is too holy a priest not to know that the Resistance is a holy Catholic cause and the current SSPX is a terminally compromised organization in need of new leadership.

Isn't Fr. Gonzalez there in Texas? What about him?
