I'm having a back-and-forth on Facebook with someone, who posted this news on Facebook a couple days ago. She said, "The phone call I received today was relayed to another from my own priest."

Isn't it ironic that the owner of CathInfo is having to (once again) squash rumors on the Internet? I say it's ironic because many enemies and those who won't touch CathInfo with a 100-foot pole think CathInfo is the online equivalent of a gossip rag, the National Enquirer, or the Weekly World News. They think I'll print anything, "truth be damned", if it sells more papers.

(As an aside, is it Catholic to be so uncharitable and cynical about a fellow Traditional Catholic? Isn't that rash judgment? Did the saints act that way -- assuming the absolute worst about others? Isn't that what readers of gossip mags do: read about all the supposed sins of famous people, to make themselves feel better?)

Sorry guys -- it's not ironic at all. CathInfo has always been about accuracy and truth.
Only those with a dog in the fight -- who hate the forum, or me, or Bishop Williamson -- claim otherwise.

The ends don't justify the means. You can't just pass around old news, or false information, for the sake of "getting more prayers for a priest". That's still deceptive!

Yes, pray for him, but don't act like he's in the hospital when he's not. Long story short: truth, accuracy are always important, and false rumors should be squashed, even when the rumors are pious, harmless, or "good". I'm not going to let errors/inaccuracies/non-truths "run free" even for a lofty purpose like prayers. The ends don't justify the means. That's a Catholic principle.

You may know that Father Cooper has been fighting bone cancer for months. It really doesn't get much worse than bone cancer. He has been in and out of the hospital many times and had received the last rites recently. He was apparently in remission for a time but now it is back. I received an email on July 28th of this year, with the text below. For obvious reasons I am excluding the names of the recipient and sender but the sender is someone close to Father.

"I received an update on Fr. Cooper late this afternoon.  I was told his cancer has returned.  He is having to choose which course of treatment to follow, and he's asking for prayers to encourage him and to help him make that decision."

Sounds to me like he seriously needs as many prayers as he can get.

I can say some prayers, no problem.
I can also provide the answer to the prayers.
Here is the answer:

Dr. Alan Goldhamer, (707) 586-5555.

Dr. Goldhamer can help Fr. Cooper make that decision, guaranteed.
Dr. Goldhamer is not just another "competent MD".  I've stayed at his
retreat 3 times since 1985.

Just get this message to Fr. Cooper.

I recall hearing Fr. Cooper originally was told he had spinal cancer.  Could that be the "bone cancer" you're referring to?

The person on Facebook.

Anyhow, that's over. I'm completely tired of that whole thread.
