Obviously, it was just for laughs, but suprisingly, the lyrics seemed to fit the situation?
And yes, Elvis Presley is no role model, but being from the South, his voice... it's wonderful.

I don't know about you, but under current conditions, prayer and humor help me keep a level keel.

Besides, it doesn't look like there are any Gregorian chants that cover the topic of maritial fidelity, which Father Beck so providentially alluded to?

Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

No doubt there will be a report about the Bishop Fellay visit to Athlone and Dublin at the weekend.

Is there any chance they'll chase him from the chapel to his car... if his sermon is too kosher?

I heard this happened about a year ago to a visiting priest who was sympathetic to the SSPX conciliarists.

Although recently, you mentioned there was less SSPX-Resistance and more apathy as of now.

I understand that Fr. Beck will be at our chapel on Sunday...gee, I can't wait.

Do you think, perhaps, he will preach on the Epistle?

    http://www.fatima.org/prayer/epistle/epistle_Lent-wk11TH.asp

    Shall I let you know?

Yes, please do.  The Epistle is loaded with possible nuances for his disposal.

Well...today Fr. Beck was there as announced the previous Sunday...his sermon was about the faith...and he stressed that Catholics must know and live their faith, and the friends one chooses are a reflection of who we are...in other words, a man is only as good as the people he associates with.  He clearly pointed out that those friends we have on the internet are included in this...and he stressed clearly, that chat rooms, blogs, and forums should be avoided.  I take that as a guilt trip for anyone who participates on Cathinfo!  He is a difficult one to figure out...neither mean spirited,  or overly likable...but most there will of left the chapel invigorated by the sermon and determined to follow the advice....except those who follow the politics and the problems plaguing the Society....

Sometimes it's hard to argue with that.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

  • Bernadette,

Yes, I did pick that up as well about the use of the internet from Fr. Beck's sermon this morning and intuitively took it as a subtle (or not so subtle) jab at those of us here and elsewhere. Funny how the neo-SSPX indiscriminately demonizes a priori the use of the internet as something evil or "unworthy" at best. More than just a poorly disguised attempt at thought-control (reserved for those who would actually buy into it, no doubt), it's a sure sign that Menzingen is really not liking what the internet has rendered the resistance capable of--INSTANT GLOBAL REACH. Searing sermons by holy resistance priests at humble home Masses half a world across, BUT available for all the world to see that very same day on You Tube!

The point is, suddenly friends on the internet are included and it seems to be a big topic of choice in the sermons....the concern over blogs, forums and chat rooms are mentioned quite often these days...now the warnings extend to other sspx faithful...yep, choose your sspx faithful friends carefully!

I know, I was making a bit of a joke.  Applying that principle to the accordista Fr Beck.

I am banking on the fact that we are not alone out here (just merely dispersed or temporarily unconnected for now perhaps), for one of my aspirations is to help get a resistance Mass circuit started out here.

In late October of last year, Frs. Pfeiffer and Chazal briefly stopped by at our place (apparently their last stop before driving up north that same night) after visiting with several other folks, including Fr. Perez in Garden Grove. At the time, I got the impression that we had enough folks interested in starting some sort of resistance group right away. Then, things went cold for a while. When I last spoke with Fr. Pfeiffer by phone a couple of months back, he seemed to designate sunny SoCal as mere "fly-over" territory--at least for the time being.

I have a sneaking suspicion that there are more of us out here and that it's just a matter of time, opportunity, and effort to get something started.
