The Novus Ordo is ILLEGAL.  Valid or not does not matter - Our Lord truly present or not does not matter - this "mass" - this thing - is illegal!  It is forbidden.  Also, Pius X condemned the heresy of Modernism.  The Novus Ordo a Supreme example of this condemned Modernism "par excellence." It is modernism in the liturgy, in The Mass of all places!! Therefore in this alone is it forbidden - all the sacrilege, changing of the words of consecration (and therefore scripture itself!), notwithstanding...heartbreakingly bad as all that is.  As for any "Eucharistic miracles" involved in it: Consider how Pope Francis is so very angry at stubborn traditionalists - remember how much invective he has used against them/us, how much name calling and almost tantrum-throwing!  It is possible this "miracle" is a fraud of some type, perpetrated or engineered by him, in order to use Our Lord as appearing to really be present in a Novus Ordo, so as to lure in weak traditionalists who do not understand or believe correctly all the aspects of this fight. (The type of well-meaning lightweight who would say, "Well if Jesus is there, that's good enough for me - I'm going to the New Mass!" - etc.) If the pope can break down Tradition with such a "lure" as a Novus Ordo Eucharistic miracle, we can hardly put it past him; breaking down traditionalists is extremely important to him as he has frequently demonstrated; we are worse than Martin Luther! Remember that the highest level of the fight we are in, is the devil vs. God.  The White House is not the most important location for intrique:  It is the Vatican.  (We know, for example, that Saul Alinsky used to visit Paul VI there).  Just saying: don't put anything past what Our Lord's enemies would do, whether they are dressed in black, red, purple or white cassocks.  As for this Eleison Comment, it appears the loosest type of theology, and shepherding.  No sense of hatred of the Novus Ordo, no warning that it shouldn't be attended. Just a sense of letting the poor misguided simmer in their Novus Ordo situation or choice - and you mean trads who find no value in them or their "mass" - you judgmental, holier than thou's.... In all this there seems no concept that you CAN'T HAVE TWO MASSES - one good and one not as good!  What's missing is the holy indignation of a bishop who sees the very Person of Christ and His Blessed Sacrifice being reviled and MUTILATED with this illegal interloper!  We aren't just looking at two pieces of almost-twin art to make a mild comparison here. Those of us old enough to have been raised in the Church while the Traditional Latin Mass held its supreme and honored place in the parishes, recognized this NEW mass when it showed up as FOREIGN.  Indeed, as NEW!! With all due respect, there are times the EC can have a "sensus Catholicus" - but this was not one of them.

Let's back up a bit here... where has Bp Williamson ever "advised" anyone that it is okay to attend the NO Mass?

Well, exactly.  Language precision is not the strong suit of some on this forum.

It's public record that during a conference in the USA a few months ago, Bishop Williamson answered a question from a woman in the audience who asked him if she was okay going to her local parish NovusOrdo masses during the week while she attends a Traditional Latin Mass on Sundays.  He answered her that he's sticking his head out saying this and he expects someone may take the opportunity to chop it off, but that she should not be afraid to go to the Newmass like that if she feels it is not dangerous to her faith. There were audible moans, but he stuck to his words and has not backed down since.

The controversy has raged ever since, +W being attacked by Fr. Pfeiffer and his friend Gregory Taylor of The Recusant (London), which is no longer available online apparently.

In fact, he has produced several "Eleison Comments" describing Novus Ordo eucharistic miracles, one of which is found in the Opening Post of this thread. The point is, H.E. made it entirely clear at the time that what he was about to say would be held against him, no doubt, but he was going to say it anyway.  He is no stranger to having things to say that some people don't like to hear.

Forgive me for speaking plainly, but from what I have seen in almost thirty years of being around traditionals, I have witnessed nothing exceptional about them.   In fact, I've been more impressed with not a few novus ordo Catholics.

You're being contrarian here.  And the topic isn't the holiness or righteousness of Traditionals, it's about the novus ordo.

As for being impressed with Novus Ordites, it could just be your imagination.  It's always a good idea to visit a Novus Ordo church once every several months or so just to remind yourself how truly special having access to an SSPX chapel truly is.

It's not my imagination.

I'm sure Bishop Williamson would not disagree with you.

I did say it was your imagination but it may be your imprudence or rash judgement.  Since I go to the St Louis SSPX chapel, I may have be seeing the best of the Traditionalists.  And having been to dozens of Novus Ordo churches, I have only been impressed with my own ability to not become incensed at the casualness in which the Novus Ordites view the Catholic faith.

However, you definitely were engaging in misdirection or thread jumping because the topic is the Novus Ordo and whether it should be attended or not.

As I pointed out above, Bishop Williamson has emerged not clandestinely but likewise not with loudspeakers blaring, that a Catholic who finds the Novus Ordo masses (specifically during weekdays) to be beneficial for his faith, should not feel obliged to stay away merely on grounds of principle, or some kind of scruple.

While I can't say that I could practice his advice myself, I can say I know others who can.  I have for many years been unable to avoid becoming upset or other physical problems when attending a Newmass liturgy.

Ah yes... the famous conference from June of last year! Without going and listening to it again right now, I'll try to go from memory. Did Bp Williamson not spend far more time pointing out the dangers to this poor women (and the audience) if she were to continue in the NO?  From my recollection, it was hardly a solid piece of advice to this poor women that it was best for her. If I  remember correctly, Mattew was present and was able to draw a good conclusion from what he saw firsthand.

Please forgive me for misunderstanding your question.

It appeared from what you asked that you had not watched the video or perhaps have not been aware of the discussion thus far.

While he did not advise it was best for her, or recommend that she ought to continue assisting at the Newmass during the week, he clearly told her that if she felt it was helping her faith that she shouldn't feel obliged to avoid it, either.  He left her to be the judge of her own situation.  He did not attempt to make that judgment FOR her.

The point is, H.E. did not firmly advise the woman to AVOID the Newmass at all costs. And he has gone on since then waxing at length about reports of eucharistic miracles in Novus Ordo circuмstances.
