I'm not surprised. He'd made the comment in Canada about Bishops "popping up like mushrooms" and he also believes, like GerardFE, that there should be a suitable bishop for every geographic region in the event that international travel becomes increasingly difficult.

True. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. It just makes it all so official. The days of relying on the 4 SSPX bishops is nearly a thing of the past.

Dom Tomas Aquino has been a mainstay of Catholicism in the southern hemisphere for many years. It is only proper that he would be graced with the fullness of Orders.

And right out of the home region of Bergoglio (within a few hundred miles, anyway).
