He contends that Bp. Williamson is in schism, and I presume that he would not contend that the bishop was in schism when a member of the SSPX. ...
EMJ has made many comments in the past, including the recent past, alluding to the entire SSPX being in schism.
EMJ is a mixed bag, to say the least. I listen to his podcast, subscribe to his magazine, and have bought many of his books (with regard to the latter, I wish he would hire a decent editor--he is quite verbose and most of what he writes can be whittled down a bit). While I agree with him about 80% of the time, that 20% in which I don't agree with him on are big issues. His love for the Mass in the vernacular; his total blindness to what is happening, and what has happened, to the Church in the past 50 odd years; and his disdain for what he refers to as the "Latin Mass traditionalists." This latter part seems to go back for quite some time.
On the other hand, he was recently described by
+Strickland as "antiSemetic" and pulled out of a conference being held by Patrick Coffin merely because EMJ was scheduled to speak at the same conference.
For the past couple of years, I have thought EMJ to be
Opus Dei, which would somewhat explain his outright refusal to criticize the Argentine and/or his disdain for the Latin Mass. However, in a recent podcast, he outright denied being a member of
Opus Dei, instead stating that he was merely a member of the Knights of Columbus.
