In deed, as of now, hardliners looking for constancy could always get out if things became too intolerable. The final test will be when the pain ends and Menzingen merges with the inevitable and true trads can then be counted!

At which point standing up and being counted will mean standing up and walking out of the door to start over once again after the decades long stay in the R&R holding pens.

A marvellous phrase: R & R holding pens! This conveys the right image before the slaughter. Well, the herd has been sufficiently tenderised for easy consumption. No more awkward priests causing trouble; castrated bishops; laity given their medication  ..... and off to the packing plants to re-emerge as shapeless standardised products without flavour and individuality. The trad market has succuмbed to a programme of industrialisation better able to cope with modernity.

I can add nothing more to that!
